1. Integrative omics data analysis to discover novel signatures in complex diseases
Sammanfattning : Apart from diseases caused by the defect of a single gene, most diseases are highly complex and are usually caused by a combination of biological and environmental factors. In the biological context, cellular processes are often tightly connected across molecular layers of the central dogma of biology, and the examination of a single layer would not be sufficient to address disease pathology, therefore, conclusions drawn can be limited. 2. Polyhydroxyalkylations for alkali-stable cationic polymers as hydroxide exchange membranes
Sammanfattning : To alleviate worldwide dependence on fossil fuels for energy production and considerably reduce CO2 emissions, green energy sources and sustainable energy solutions are in high demand. Fuel cells are environmental-friendly electrochemical devices which may use clean fuels, e.g., green hydrogen gas, to generate electricity. LÄS MER

4. Participant, Catalyst or Spectator? – A study of how managers apply control in innovation processes
Sammanfattning : This study is motivated by two research questions: (1) How is an organizational control system established and maintained in product and process innovation? (2) How are innovation processes facilitated or hindered as a result of the interplay between forms of control and autonomy? The thesis investigates these questions by means of an in-depth longitudinal case study involving 15 innovation projects at a Swedish multinational industrial organization – the Trelleborg Group. The established literature has recognized top management involvement as one of the most critical success factors in firms’ innovation efforts. LÄS MER
5. On lymph node based immunotherapy of cancer
Sammanfattning : Cancer Immunotherapy based on one’s own immune system to fight cancer is emerging as an important treatment option for advanced stage diseases. The earliest attempts of cancer therapy based on the provocation of the immune system with infectious agents can be traced back to the 18th century, and the field of immunotherapy has since developed into three main groups: cellular-, antibody- and cytokine- therapies.
