  1. 1. Comparative avian developmental toxicity of PFAAs

    Författare :Marcus Nordén; Magnus Engwall; Krister Halldin; Anders Bignert; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chicken; herring gull; cormorant; PFAA; PFOS; PFOA; toxicity; levels; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) are persistent organic pollutants that can commonly be found in environmental matrixes and wildlife from all over the globe. The PFAAs have been used in applications such as water and dirt repelling treatments for textiles, oil-resistant paper coatings and fire-fighting foams. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Metal Speciation and Toxicity in Sewage Sludge

    Författare :Annika Ekvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; partition coefficient; toxicity; speciation; sewage sludge; fractionation; metals;

    Sammanfattning : Increasingly stringent controls on metal concentrations in sewage sludge destined for agricultural application provided a basis for the study of the relevance of metal speciation in sewage sludge. A comprehensive literature review identified difficulties in relating metal speciation through single chemical extractions to plant uptake and soil toxicity. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modelling late toxicity in hypofractionated radiation therapy

    Författare :Niclas Pettersson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hypofractionation; normal tissue complication probability; modelling; linear-quadratic model; fractionation sensitivity; late toxicity; radiation-induced rib fracture; genitourinary toxicity; stereotactic body radiation therapy; high-dose-rate brachytherapy; multimodality radiation therapy; patient-reported outcomes; prostate cancer; nsclc;

    Sammanfattning : In hypofractionated radiation therapy (RT), the treatment is delivered by few fractions with high doses per fraction. This is in contrast to conventionally fractionated RT where the total dose is delivered in many fractions with low doses per fraction. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Structures, toxicity and internalization of cell-penetrating peptides

    Författare :Emelía Eiríksdóttir; Ülo Langel; Michael Gait; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CPP; cell-penetrating peptide; internalization; toxicity; structures; Neurochemistry; Neurokemi; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi; Neurochemistry with Molecular Neurobiology;

    Sammanfattning : Cellular internalization is a highly regulated process controlled by proteins in the plasma membrane. Large and hydrophilic compounds, in particular, face difficulties conquering the plasma membrane barrier in order to gain access to intracellular environment. This puts serious constrains on the drug industry since many drugs are hydrophilic. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Internalization mechanisms of cell-penetrating peptides : Structure-activity relationships, cellular distribution and membrane toxicity studies

    Författare :Mats Hansen; Ülo Langel; Mark Lindsay; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell-penetrating peptides; mechanisms; toxicity; structure-activity relationship; Neurochemistry; Neurokemi; Neurochemistry and Molecular Neurobiology; neurokemi med molekylär neurobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Transport of substances with pharmaceutical potential over the plasma membrane has been pushed a great step forward with the discovery of short cationic polypeptides, known as cell-penetrating peptides (CPP). Since then, the internalization mechanism and cargo delivery properties of CPPs has been extensively studied. LÄS MER
