1. Studies of Top Physics Sensitivity and of Pile-Up Effects on Energy Reconstruction in the ATLAS Detector : A Licentiate Thesis About the Treatment of Troublesome $\tau$ and Producing Pulses to Probe Pile-up Problems
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents two studies conducted using the ATLAS detectorat the Large Hadron Collider. The first one is a technical study abouthow out-of-time pile-up affects energy reconstruction using the optimalfiltering 2 algorithm in the TILE calorimeter sub detector. The studyis conducted using a pulse simulator software that is also described. LÄS MER
2. Electronic Structure Calculations of Point Defects in Semiconductors
Sammanfattning : In this thesis point defects in semiconductors are studied by electronic structure calculations. Results are presented for the stability and equilibrium concentrations of native defects in GaP, InP, InAs, and InSb, for the entire range of doping conditions and stoichiometry. LÄS MER
3. Charge and Energy Noise from On-demand Electron Sources
Sammanfattning : On-demand single electron sources (SES) are of key importance for future electronic applications such as metrology or quantum optics with electron. They allow for achieving a controlled, low-fluctuations flow of particles in a coherent mesoscopic conductor. LÄS MER
4. Phase dependent heat transport in superconducting junctions with scattering theory
Sammanfattning : The operation of nanoscale devices at low temperatures is highly sensitive to heating effects. This motivates current research on controlling heat currents in these devices. LÄS MER
5. The effect of spacecraft charging on low-energy ion measurements around comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko
Sammanfattning : A spacecraft in space interacts with the surrounding environment and aqcuires an electrostatic potential. Charged particles are constantly bombarding the surface of the spacecraft, and at the same time solar EUV radiation induces photoemission, causing electrons to be emitted from the surface. LÄS MER
