  1. 1. Constitutive Behaviour and Fracture of Adhesive Layers : Inverse Methods and Energetic Balance

    Författare :Svante Alfredsson; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; adhesive layer; constitutive behaviour; fracture; energy release rate; shear fracture; mode-mixity; experimental method; inverse solution; multi-material joints; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Teknik; Technology;

    Sammanfattning : In the automobile industry, current demands on reduced emissions with maintained or even increased crash worthiness, forces the industry to seek weight-reducing designs. The possibility to use lightweight materials is obviously attractive. At joints, these lightweight materials have to be connected to high-strength or low-cost materials. LÄS MER

  2. 2. In-Plane Fracture of Paper

    Författare :Johan Tryding; Institutionen för byggvetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Byggnadsteknik; Building construction; Paper; Fracture energy; Strain softening; Localized damage; Fracture mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : The in-plane failure of paper is studied in this work by means of a cohesive crack model from experimental as well as theoretical perspectives. Localized damage at in-plane tension of short paper strips is studied for low strain rates. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Distal femur fracture in the elderly patient

    Författare :Martin Paulsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Distal femur fracture; Geriatric patients; Weight-bearing; Recovery; Secondary displacement; Minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis MIPO ; Fracture alignment; Fracture classification;

    Sammanfattning : Studies on the epidemiology of distal femur fractures show a vast increase in low-energy trauma-associated fractures in older ages. Age-related changes in bones lead to loss of bone matrix and increased porosity, which entails an increased risk for fractures and different fracture patterns than in younger individuals. LÄS MER

  4. 4. The acute osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture. Its natural course and characteristics

    Författare :Nobuyuki Suzuki; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Vertebral body fracture; Osteoporosis; Pain; Quality of life; Disability; Compression fracture; Prognosis; Treatment; Prevalent fracture; Epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate the natural course and the characteristics of the acute osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture in order to better understand and improve treatment for this type of fracture. Patients and methods: Eligible patients were all patients over 40 years of age who sought medical care at the emergency unit at Sahlgrenska University Hospital (studies I-III) or referred to the X-ray Department at Capio Diagnostic Center (study IV) because of back pain with a radiographically-confirmed acute vertebral body fracture which resulted from a low energy trauma. 5. 5. Patients with Hip Fracture : Various aspects of patient safety

    Författare :Anna-Karin Gunnarsson; Lena Gunningberg; Sune Larsson; Kenneth B Jonsson; Anne-Marie Boström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hip fracture; patient safety; nutrition; cranberry; patient involvement; adverse event; elderly; Caring Sciences; Vårdvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the thesis was to investigate whether patient safety can be improved for patients with hip fracture by nutritional intervention and by pharmacological treatment with cranberry concentrate. Another aim was to describe the patients’ experience of involvement in their care. LÄS MER
