1. Diffraction in high-energy collisions
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns itself with low-momentum-transfer processes in high-energy particle collisions. These processes cannot be described in the framework of the fundamental theory of quantum chromodynamics (QCD), but rely on a pre-QCD approach, the Regge theory. LÄS MER
2. Alkali Metal Adsorption on Metals Studied by Hiqh Resolution Core Level Spectroscopy and Low Energy Electron Diffraction
Sammanfattning : Alkali metal adsorption on metals is studied by High Resolution Core Level Spectroscopy (HRCLS) and Low Energy Electron Diffraction (LEED). The studies can be divided into two parts: adsorption of alkali multilayers and alkali adsorption in the submonolayer regime. LÄS MER
3. Electron beam profile measurements and emittance manipulation at the MAX-laboratory
Sammanfattning : The emittances of the electron beams at the MAX-laboratory accelerator system have been studied. Apart from the build-up of the diagnostic tools for precise determination of the beam spatial profiles, the objectives have been: a) to verify the accelerator design emittances at low currents and to try to determine the emittances also at high currents; b) to investigate possibilities to manipulate the emittances. 4. Layer formation on quartz particles during fluidized bed combustion/gasification of woody biomass
Sammanfattning : The formation of sticky layers on bed particles has been considered as a prerequisite for bed agglomeration in fluidized bed combustion and gasification of woody fuels. In addition, the layer formed makes the bed particle less resistant against fragmentation. The fragments from quartz particles can result in deposition. LÄS MER
5. Ash transformation in thermochemical conversion of different biomass resources with special focus on phosphorus
Sammanfattning : A great potential exists for increasing the use of bioenergy in thermochemical processes by utilizing agricultural biomass, forest residues, and sewage sludge that have high availability. Many of these biomass assortments have high ash contents with relatively high concentrations of ash-forming elements such as potassium (K), calcium (Ca), silicon (Si), and phosphorus (P). LÄS MER
