  1. 1. Long-term performance of water repellants on rendered autoclaved aerated concrete

    Författare :Hülya Kus; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :water repellants; renderings; autoclaved aerated concrete; surface treatments; long-term performance; degradation; natural weathering; artificial weathering; moisture monitoring;

    Sammanfattning : Many failures of external walls made of porous buildingmaterials are caused by excessive moisture content,particularly after driving rain and under long duration ofmoist conditions. Lack of sufficient protection againstexposure conditions is one of the reasons for external wallsprematurely demonstrating failures, i.e. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Durability and Long-term Performance of Adhesively Bonded FRP/steel Joints

    Författare :Mohsen Heshmati; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; FRP steel joints; durability; fibre reinforced polymer; cohesive zone modelling; long-term performance; adhesively bonded joints; moisture diffusion;

    Sammanfattning : Fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) composites offer excellent properties, such as high specific strength and stiffness, corrosion resistance and light weight. Over the past four decades, FRPs have been increasingly used for strengthening and repair of bridge structures, and more recently, in the manufacture of whole/hybrid FRP bridges. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Moisture-induced stress and distortion of wood : A numerical and experimental study of wood's drying and long-term behaviour

    Författare :Sara Florisson; Sigurdur Ormarsson; Johan Vessby; Kent Persson; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; analytical method; calibration; controlled climate; creep; distortion; experimental methodology; FEM; fibre orientation; mechano-sorption; moisture transport; natural climate; Norway spruce; numerical model; three-dimensional; timber beam; validation; wood; Byggteknik; Civil engineering; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Sammanfattning : With the current advances made in three-dimensional modelling of wood, it is possible to provide an overall picture of moisture flow, and moisture-induced stress and deformations, whereas previously, experiments only provided local measurements. The main aim of the doctoral thesis is to investigate the possibilities of the developed three-dimensional numerical model to predict the behaviour of wood when simultaneously exposed to a mechanical load and a particular climate. 4. 4. Impact of moisture on long term performance of insulating products based on stone wool

    Författare :Tomás Vrána; Folke Björk; Per Ingvar Sandberg; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineral insulation; Stone wool; Material properties; Moisture transport; Heat transport; Test equipment; Moisture properties; Frost formation; Building engineering; Byggnadsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Demands for energy have been increasing in the whole world. According to higher consumption, the price of energy rises yearly too. This evokes usage of insulating products in a wider range. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Numerical models for degradation of concrete in hydraulic structures due to long-term contact with water

    Författare :Daniel Eriksson; Anders Ansell; Richard Malm; Erik Nordström; Katja Fridh; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; degradation; deterioration mechanisms; hydraulic structures; air-entrained concrete; multiphase model; long-term moisture conditions; pore size distribution; freezing; partially saturated; finite element method; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : The durability of concrete is of major concern in all types of concrete structures where the combined effect of exposure conditions and the type and quality of the concrete material usually determines the rate of degradation. Furthermore, there are synergy effects between different deterioration mechanisms, which means that the combined rate of degradation is higher than the sum of the individual rates of each mechanism.
