    Sammanfattning : Psychological long-term coping, mental health, social adjustment, and memories of illness and experiences of medical care were investigated in 30 young adult childhood cancer survivors. Coping with illness and treatment was studied with reference to a theoretical model based on psychodynamic theory of the integration of a psychological trauma. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : There is limited knowledge of cognitive outcome extending beyond 5 years after childhood traumatic brain injury, CTBI. The main objectives of this thesis were to investigate cognitive outcome at 6-14 years after CTBI, and to evaluate if advancements in the neurosurgical care, starting 1992, did influence long-term outcome and early epidemiology.     Sammanfattning : The aim of the thesis is to contribute to knowledge of (1) psychosocial illness in the population, (2) the prevalence and nature of psychosocial illness encountered in primary health care, and (3) encountered among persons with long-term illness. The data collected include the results of a questionnaire given to a population-based sample of 13 000 persons (20-84 years), a questionnaire given to general practitioners (GP) (N=199), and interviews with 30 persons with long-term illness and results of psychological testing of them (Sense of Coherence, SOC, and Karolinska Scales of Personality, KSP).     Sammanfattning : The outcomes of 20 patients participating in occupational group therapy at a psychiatric outpatient unit were explored and related to perceptions of the ward atmosphere and the treatment process. The outcome variables - psychiatric symptoms, global mental health, quality of life, and occupational functioning - were measured at admission, at discharge, and 1 year after discharge. LÄS MER
