Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three self-contained essays.Essay 1 Using pooled cross-sectional data from 23 OECD countries, between 1965 and 1990, I find evidence that the tax structure affects economic growth. Specifically, the proportion of tax revenue raised by taxing personal income has a negative correlation with economic growth. LÄS MER

15. Essays on Trade, Growth and Exchange Rates
Sammanfattning : In the first chapter we test if Purchasing Power Parity, PPP, is empirically valid and when that is not the case we test if productivity growth differences can account for the deviations from PPP by co-integration analysis. Interestingly, the results lend support in favour of PPP in several cases and when PPP is rejected GDP per capita growth rate differences seem to explain the long-run deviations from PPP. LÄS MER
