  1. 1. Interactions Between Localized Surface Plasmons and Molecular Resonances

    Författare :Gülis Zengin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; single particles; J-aggregates; Rhodamine 6G; Localized surface plasmon resonance; strong coupling; surface-enhanced absorption;

    Sammanfattning : Molecular plasmonics is the study of interactions between plasmonic nanostructures and molecules. It has been basis for fundamental understanding of light-matter interactions and development of many technological applications, such as biological and chemical sensing, plasmon-enhanced spectroscopies, optical switches, and plasmon-enhanced energy harvesting. Författare :Srinivasan Iyer; Ari T. Friberg; N. Asger Mortensen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; suface plasmons; extraordinary transmission; metamaterials; shnets; split-ring resonators; plasmon-induced EIT; optical antennas; plasmonics;

    Sammanfattning : The study of optical phenomena related to the strong electromagnetic response of noble metals (silver (Ag) and gold (Au) being most popular) over the last couple of decades has led to the emergence of a fast growing research area called plasmonics named after 'surface plasmons' which are electron density waves that propagate along the interface of a metal and a dielectric medium. Surface plasmons are formed by the coupling of light to the electrons on the metal surface subject to the fulfillment of certain physical conditions and they are bound to the metal surface. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Photoelectrochemical Processes on Fe2O3 Based Model Anodes

    Författare :Beniamino Iandolo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Near- field Enhancement; Hydrogen; Hematite; Water Splitting; Flatband Potential; Surface States.; Localized Plasmons; Nanoparticles;

    Sammanfattning : One possibility to partially satisfy the ever-increasing energy needs of modern society, without compromising the Earth’s environment through e.g. global warming, consists in harvesting solar energy and storing it as hydrogen produced from water splitting. This can potentially be achieved on a large scale using photoelectrochemical (PEC) cells. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Nanoplasmonic Enhancement of Photon-to-Electron Conversion in Functionalized Iron Oxide Photoanodes

    Författare :Beniamino Iandolo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Sammanfattning : The ever increasing energy demand of modern society clashes with the accelerating depletion of the fossil fuels from which most of this energy is taken today. Moreover, fossil fuels consumption poses a severe threat on the Earth’s environment and climate through global warming. LÄS MER
