När så kallade pietister framträdde i Sverige vid 1700-talets början uppstod en ny problematik kring toleransens gränser i Sveriges historia. According to some researchers, the modernization of food production has led to a crisis of confidence in today’s food system and consumers are said to experience alienation, gastro-anomie, and distrust towards food products (see Murcott, Mennell & Van Otterloo 1992; Fischler 1980; 1988). Based on fieldwork, media debates, analysis ofpolicy documents, discussions with teachers as weil as teacher's educators, and interviews with principals working in the elementary schools of Malmö, the dissertation explores three analytical arenas; schools as (re)producers of values and norms, Ihe mullicullural school and finally Ihe localions of schools in lime and space.
