  1. 1. Carbon stock and fluxes in Nyungwe forest and Ruhande Arboretum in Rwanda

    Författare :Donat Nsabimana; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbon stock; Litterfall production; Soil CO2 efflux; or soil respiration; Soil temperature; Soil water content; Spatial variation; Seasonal and diurnal variations;

    Sammanfattning : Conservation and sequestration of carbon in forest ecosystems are potential strategies to reduce or stabilize the atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations and mitigate climate change. Estimating the... LÄS MER

  2. 2. Impacts of pine and eucalyptus plantations on carbon and nutrients stocks and fluxes in miombo forests ecosystems

    Författare :Benard Guedes; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge of how commercial pine and eucalyptus plantations affect soil carbon and nutrient status is important in Mozambique, where incentives are available to increase the area of forest plantations and also to conserve mature miombo forests. Tree species growing on similar sites may affect ecosystem carbon differently if they allocate carbon to aboveground and belowground parts at different rates. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Simulating Transport and Understanding Future Fluxes of Organic Carbon in Rivers Draining into the Baltic Sea

    Författare :Kim Dahlgren Strååt; Emma Undeman; Martyn Futter; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Riverine organic (TOC, Total Organic Carbon) and inorganic (DIC, Dissolved Inorganic Carbon) carbon are the main sources of carbon in the Baltic Sea. While the importance of this contribution has been evaluated, there are currently several gaps in our knowledge of the mechanisms governing organic carbon dynamics in this region, especially for the particulate form, and the impact of future climate change on organic carbon transport. 4. 4. Modelling the terrestrial carbon cycle – drivers, benchmarks, and model-data fusion

    Författare :Zhendong Wu; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :Global carbon cycle; Ecosystem modeling; Uncertainty; LPJ-GUESS; Traceability Framework; Model-data fusion; Climate data;

    Sammanfattning : The terrestrial ecosystem sequesters about one-third of anthropogenic emissions each year, thereby providing a critical ecosystem service that slows the rate of increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide and helps mitigate climate change. Observed atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations exhibit a large inter-annual variability which is considered to be caused primarily by the response of the terrestrial ecosystem to climate change and anthropogenic activity.
