The main purpose is to answer questions about what social and cultural investments Jan Fridegård made to establish a position in the literary field, how his literary reputation changed during the course of his career and what caused these changes. Sammanfattning : The present thesis is on the subject of beginnings, when Swedish women first entered the literary field and began to write about literature and to address the gender perspective. The first phase began when Sophie Leijonhufvud (married name Adlersparre) and Rosalie Olivecrona established the journal Tidskrift för hemmet (The Journal of Domestic Life, 1859), one of the main Swedish women's fora for intellectual development and dissemination of literature. 5. Weeping for the res publica : Tears in Roman political culture
Sammanfattning : The thesis explores the meaning and function of tears in Roman political culture during the Republic and the Early Empire in various historical settings: mourning, the law court, and in different political contexts where power, authority, and subjection were expressed or exercised. This is carried through by reading representations of weeping in Greek and Latin literary works in different genres, written by different authors. LÄS MER
