    Sammanfattning : This thesis has two points of departure and four main purposes. The first point of departure concerns the narrow perspective of the listening skill in Swedish. Listening is not only regarded as a higher mental process but also as a core skill in musical ability.     Sammanfattning : The primary purpose of this doctoral thesis is to present a theoretical framework for analysis of communication through radio, taking the sounding dimension of the medium as a primary characteristic. My theoretical approach is manifold, but I explicitly use writings from the field of ethnomethodology/microsociology (linguistic communication) of Alfred Schutz (sociology of everyday life) and Gerhard Maletzke (mediated communication).
