1. Design and Synthesis of Hepatitis C Virus NS3 Protease Inhibitors Incorporating a P2 Cyclopentane-Derived Scaffold
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the design, synthesis and structure-activity relationships analysis of potential inhibitors targeting the hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3 protease. Also discussed is the disease caused by HCV infection and the class of enzymes known as proteases. LÄS MER
2. Effects of proteasome inhibitors on chondrogenesis and linear bone growth
Sammanfattning : Linear bone growth occurs at the growth plate, a thin layer of cartilage between the epiphysis and metaphysis of long bones. In the growth plate, resting/stem-like chondrocytes divide and generate the highly proliferative chondrocytes, which further differentiate into the enlarged hypertrophic form before being substituted by bone, a process called endochondral ossification. 3. Design and Synthesis of Serine and Aspartic Protease Inhibitors
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the design and synthesis of compounds that areintended to inhibit serine and aspartic proteases. The first part of the text deals with preparation of inhibitors of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3 serine protease. Hepatitis C is predominantly a chronic disease that afflicts about 170 million people worldwide. LÄS MER
4. Exploring Inhibitors of HIV-1 Protease : Interaction Studies with Applications for Drug Discovery
Sammanfattning : A variety of HIV-1 protease inhibitors and their interactions with the enzyme have been characterized in order to identify novel and improved drugs against AIDS. The investigated inhibitors were represented by clinical and non-clinical inhibitors, active site and allosteric inhibitors, transition-state analogues and metal-ions. LÄS MER
5. Evolution and viral mimicry of short linear motif-mediated interactions
Sammanfattning : Proteins are one of the most fundamental building blocks of life and their interactions regulate every cellular process. Historically they have been conceptualized as predominantly folded entities with well-defined secondary and tertiary structures. LÄS MER
