  1. 1. Linear Quadratic Gaussian Controllers for Feedforward Active Noise Control : Pushing Performance and Moving Towards Adaptive Control

    Författare :Annea Barkefors; Mikael Sternad; Anders Ahlén; Lars-Johan Brännmark; Bengt Carlsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; active noise control; ANC; LQG; feedforward control; sound field control; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Sammanfattning : Active noise control is a research area focused on using destructive interference of sound fields to attenuate undesired noise. Methods for active noise control are best suited for low frequency noise, as the complexity of the problem grows rapidly with frequency. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Gradient Methods for Large-Scale and Distributed Linear Quadratic Control

    Författare :Karl Mårtensson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Large-Scale Control; Distributed Control; Linear Quadratic Gaussian Control; Gradient method; Controller Synthesis;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis considers methods for synthesis of linear quadratic controllers for large-scale, interconnected systems. Conventional methods that solve the linear quadratic control problem are only applicable to systems with moderate size, due to the rapid increase in both computational time and memory requirements as the system size increases. 3. 3. Interaction Analysis in Multivariable Control Systems : Applications to Bioreactors for Nitrogen Removal

    Författare :Björn Halvarsson; Bengt Carlsson; Elling Jacobsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; activated sludge process; biological nitrogen removal; bioreactor models; control structure design; cost-efficient operation; decentralized control; interaction measures; minimum variance control; multivariable control; wastewater treatment; Automatic control; Reglerteknik; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Sammanfattning : Many control systems of practical importance are multivariable. In such systems, each manipulated variable (input signal) may affect several controlled variables (output signals) causing interaction between the input/output loops. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Applications of Information Inequalities to Linear Systems : Adaptive Control and Security

    Författare :Ingvar Ziemann; Henrik Sandberg; Alexandre Proutiere; Nikolai Matni; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stochastic Adaptive Control; Machine Learning; Fisher Information; Secure Control; Fundamental Limitations; Reinforcement Learning; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis considers the application of information inequalities, Cramér-Rao type bounds, based on Fisher information, to linear systems. These tools are used to study the trade-offs between learning and performance in two application areas: adaptive control and control systems security. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Development and evaluation of methods for control and modelling of multiple-input multiple-output systems

    Författare :Fredrik Bengtsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Input-output scaling; Modeling; Fiber length; Tensile Index; Hold-input; Decentralized control; Gramian based measures; Delays; LQG control; TMP; Uncertain data sets; Unreliable communication links; MIMO systems; Control configuration selection; Linear regression; Freeness; Shives; CTMP;

    Sammanfattning : In control, a common type of system is the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system, where the same input may affect multiple outputs, or conversely, the same output is affected by multiple inputs. In this thesis two methods for controlling MIMO systems are examined, namely linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) control and decentralized control, and some of the difficulties associated with them.
