6. Structural and evolutionary studies of a lipocalin: the alpha1-microglobulin protein and its gene
Sammanfattning : a1-microglobulin is a small glycoprotein present in plasma and in tissues surrounding the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts. a1-microglobulin is a member of the lipocalin protein family and exhibits several of the typical traits of a lipocalin; it binds an unknown ligand which causes the brown color of the protein, it forms complexes with various different proteins and there have been indications of the presence of a receptor for a1-microglobulin on T-lymphocytes. 7. Substance Flow Analysis for Environmental Management in Local Authorities : method development and context
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the use of Substance Flow Analysis (SFA) in Swedish local authorities. The tool of SFA is often claimed to be supportive of decision-making, since it provides information about sources of emissions and relates these to actors and activities in society. LÄS MER

9. Reactive Navigation Methods for Autonomous Robots: Safety, Coordination, and Field Deployment
Sammanfattning : In the new era of intelligent systems, small-scale electronics, and advanced sensors, the application use-cases and operational capabilities of autonomous robots are exponentially increasing. Through their ability to execute complex tasks while relying only on onboard sensors and computation, autonomous field robots are showing promising results in inspection of infrastructure, search-and-rescue or surveillance, maintenance tasks, or in general operations in areas that prove to be dangerous or hazardous for human operators to enter, while also often increasing the efficiency of such tasks. 10. Assessment and prognostic importance of nutritional status and body composition in liver transplantation
Sammanfattning : Chronic liver disease and liver cirrhosis are progressive diseases closely linked to metabolism and nutritional status. Weight loss is a result of negative energy balance and is therefore a good measure of risk of malnutrition. LÄS MER
