  1. 1. Thioredoxin reductase and selenium in carcinogenesis and multidrug resistance

    Författare :Linda Björkhem Bergman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The thioredoxin system, comprising thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) and NADPH, is a redox system of great importance in the defence against oxidative stress and is involved in the regulation of several cellular processes, such as apoptosis and cell proliferation. In addition, TrxR is a selenoenzyme and is a key enzyme in selenium metabolism. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Evaluation of precursor and cofactor engineering strategies influencing fatty acid metabolism in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

    Författare :Alexandra Linda Bergman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; metabolic engineering; fatty acids; oleochemicals; NADPH; Sustainability; phosphoketolase; acetyl-CoA; transcription factor;

    Sammanfattning : If humanity is to reduce the rate of climate change, it is essential that our societies switch to a more sustainable production of fuels and chemicals, which in turn depends on technological development. Oleochemical production via microbial catalysts – such as the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae – can use a considerably broader range of renewable substrates compared to the conventional production processes. Sammanfattning : Children born small for gestational age (SGA) run increased risk of perinatal morbidity and mortality, but also of long-term health impairment. Risks on long term may vary depending on postnatal growth patterns. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Multimodal rehabilitation for patients with chronic pain in northern Sweden, focusing on gender and age

    Författare :Linda Spinord; Britt-Marie Stålnacke; Gunilla Stenberg; Ann-Charlotte Kassberg; Stefan Bergman; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chronic pain; multimodal rehabilitering; gender; age; rehabiliteringsmedicin; Rehabilitation Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to study outcomes and experiences of multimodal rehabilitation programmes (MMRP) for patients with chronic pain in northern Sweden, focusing on gender and age. This thesis is based on four studies that used both quantitative and qualitative methods.
