Sammanfattning : Registered nurses in municipal elderly home care have in some occasionsdifficulties in identifying the patients’ needs and prioritize intervention inaccordance with the patients’ preferences, which is to obtain social and emotional support. 3. A person-centred approach to support family caregivers in specialised home care : The Carer Support Needs Assessment Tool Intervention
Sammanfattning : Family caregivers are crucial providers of support and care for patients with lifethreatening illness and many report unmet support needs. With the use of quantitative and qualitative methods this thesis aimed to evaluate the Carer Support Needs Assessment Tool (CSNAT) and explore experiences and potential effects of utilising the Carer Support Needs Assessment Tool Intervention (CSNAT-I) among family caregivers and registered nurses in the context of specialised home care. 4. Se – än lever jag! : Livsåskådning och lärande i livets slutskede
Sammanfattning : The purpose of the study has been, by adopting a view of life and a learning perspective, to reach an understanding of the way in which cancer patients in a palliative care context understand and cope with their existential life situation. I asked the following questions: 1) How does their personal view of life influence the patients’ understanding and coping with the illness and existential life situation? 2) What existential questions are central to the patients? 3) What is personal learning all about? 4) What prerequisites are important for fostering the patients’ personal learning? Interviews focusing on narratives were conducted with ten patients who have an incurable cancer disease. LÄS MER
5. Patients' quality of life - Living with incurable cancer in palliative homecare
Sammanfattning : My clinical experience is that living in incurable cancer at the end of life is complex to patients and their families. Patients seem to have a rather good quality of life (QoL) but problems related to the progression of the illness constantly challenges and changes QoL. LÄS MER
