  1. 1. Life Cycle Thinking in Environmentally Preferable Procurement

    Författare :Elisabeth Hochschorner; Göran Finnveden; Anna Björklund; Ann-Marie Tillman; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Life Cycle Thinking; Life Cycle Assessment; Environmental Procurement; Life Cycle Costing; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Products generate environmental impacts during their life cycle by consuming raw materials and energy, releasing emissions and producing waste. A procurement organisation can be a considerable driving force for more environmentally friendly products e.g. by requiring that products meet certain environmental criteria. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Marketing for Life Cycle Thinking

    Författare :Emma Rex; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Green marketing; LCA practice; Organisational theory; Interpretive research; Industry practices; Life cycle thinking LCT ; Sensemaking; Life cycle management LCM ; Functionalist research; Environmental management;

    Sammanfattning : The concept of “life cycle thinking” creates possibilities for major improve¬ments in environ¬mental performance, but compels companies to look beyond their own immediate sites and operations to consider the broader picture of their products’ or services’ environmental impact. This thesis seeks to explore company attempts to implement such life cycle thinking (LCT), and how this connects with their self-inte¬rest in terms of market success. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Environmental Considerations in the Zero-waste Valorisation of Bauxite Residue : A Life Cycle Perspective

    Författare :Peter James Joyce; Anna Björklund; Hellweg Stefanie; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Life Cycle Assessment LCA ; bauxite residue; waste valorisation; Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials NORM ; Life Cycle Thinking; LCA software; Circular Economy; Livscykelanalys LCA ; bauxitrest; avfallsvalorisering; naturligt förekommande radioaktiva ämnen NORM ; livscykeltänkande; LCA-programvara; cirkulär ekonomi; Planering och beslutsanalys; Planning and Decision Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Bauxite residue, also known as red mud, is produced in large quantities as a result of alumina refining (the first stage in aluminium production), and is one of the world’s most abundant and important industrial wastes. As demand for aluminium continues to increase and space to store this residue diminishes, the potential to utilise bauxite residue as a secondary resource is increasingly being considered by the alumina industry. 4. 4. Buildings in municipal climate change mitigation strategies : towards life cycle thinking

    Författare :Nicolas Francart; Tove Malmqvist; Martin Erlandsson; Paula Femenias; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; building; lca; requirement; environmental performance; futures studies; backcasting; environmental engineering; sustainable urban planning; Planering och beslutsanalys; Planning and Decision Analysis; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Fulfilling climate targets requires ambitious changes. The building sector is a large contributor to emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG), but also offers opportunities for climate change impact reductions. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Life Cycle Thinking and Waste Policy : Between Science and Society

    Författare :David Lazarevic; Maria Malmström; Nils Brandt; Nicolas Buclet; Karel Mulder; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Life cycle thinking; life cycle assessment; waste policy; waste hierarchy; coordination; conventions; legitimacy;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigates the application of life cycle thinking (LCT) and life cycle assessment (LCA) in the field of waste management from perspectives based in the social sciences. LCT is explored through the theoretical construct of regimes, drawing theoretical resources from a combination of the ‘pragmatic turn’, the economics of conventions and transition theory. LÄS MER
