  1. 1. Managers' Cooperative Work Practices in Computational Artefacts-Supported Library Systems

    Författare :Niki Chatzipanagiotou; Anita Mirijamdotter; Jaime Campos; Christina Mörtberg; Ulrika Lund Snis; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Work Practice; Cooperative Work; Cooperative Work Practices; Computational Artefacts; Computer-Supported Cooperative Work; Articulation Work; Awareness; Appropriation; Ethnography; Focused-Ethnography; Fieldwork; Vignettes; Complexity; Managers; Management; Libraries; Academic Library; Academic Library Managers; Informatik; Information Systems;

    Sammanfattning : The dissertation presents understandings of the complex, contextual, cooperative everyday work practices of academic library managers supported by computational artefacts, as well as challenges disrupting their practices and thereby computational artefacts usage. The doctoral research approaches and conceptualises managers’ work as ‘everyday cooperative practice’, in this way adopting the computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW) approach. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Merger and management : University of Rwanda libraries in a transitional context

    Författare :Berthilde Uwamwezi; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; University merger; resource sharing; library management; academic libraries; academic library merger; University of Rwanda; Rwanda; University of Rwanda libra;

    Sammanfattning : With a focus on management of libraries, this study is set in the context of a merger of the University of Rwanda with multi-sites and campuses. The study explores how librarians, library directors and representatives for university management understand and conceive of the libraries in relation to the merger. LÄS MER

  3. 3. A functional approach to heterogeneous computing in embedded systems

    Författare :Markus Aronsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Developing programs for embedded systems presents quite a challenge; not only should programs be resource efficient, as they operate under memory and timing constraints, but they should also take full advantage of the hardware to achieve maximum performance. Since performance is such a significant factor in the design of embedded systems, modern systems typically incorporate more than one kind of processing element to benefit from specialized processing capabilities. 4. 4. Taken for Granted – The Construction of Order in the Process of Library Management System Decision Making

    Författare :Nasrine Olson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Library Management Systems; System Selection Process within Libraries; Library System Procurement process; Consequences of Decision Making; Methodological Symmetry; Duality of Structure in Decision Making Process; Construction of Conceptual Order; Construction of Social Order; library management systems;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is an empirically based, theoretical discussion of the process of decision making in relation to Library Management Systems (LMS). Although the conceptualization of the LMS decision process in rational terms, common in many LMS selection models, may be useful in different respects, here the process is viewed from a social constructivist stance. 5. 5. Application-aware resource management for datacenters

    Författare :Abel Pinto Coelho de Souza; Johan Tordsson; Andreas Hellander; Per-Håkan Lundow; Lili Jiang; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Resource Management; High Performance Computing; Cloud Computing; Computer Science; datalogi;

    Sammanfattning : High Performance Computing (HPC) and Cloud Computing datacenters are extensively used to steer and solve complex problems in science, engineering, and business, such as calculating correlations and making predictions. Already in a single datacenter server, there are thousands of hardware and software metrics – Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) – that individually and aggregated can give insight in the performance, robustness, and efficiency of the datacenter and the provisioned applications.
