  1. 1. On leukocyte recruitment in endotoxemic liver injury

    Författare :Daniel Klintman; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ortopedi; traumatology; Kirurgi; orthopaedics; Surgery; Sepsis; Liver; Inflammation; Adhesion; Endotoxemia; traumatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Leukocyte recruitment is a key feature of liver injury associated with endotoxemia and systemic inflammation. The aim of this thesis was to define the adhesive mechanisms underlying leukocyte endothelial cell interactions, and the therapeutic potential of interference with specific adhesion molecules in endotoxemic liver damage. 2. 2. On Leukocyte Recruitment in Cholestatic Liver Injury

    Författare :Matthias Laschke; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Leukocyte and Liver; Inflammation; Cholestasis; Endothelium;

    Sammanfattning : Cholestasis is a frequent clinical syndrome, which is caused by a dysfunction in bile formation of the hepatocyte or from obstruction of the biliary tract. This is associated with inflammation of the liver tissue, resulting in severe liver injury. In this inflammatory process, leukocyte recruitment has emerged as a key feature. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Serine protease inhibitors in the upper and lower airways

    Författare :Camilla Hollander; Enheten för kroniska inflammatoriska och degenerativa sjukdomar; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; auditive system and speech; Neutrophils; audiology; Otorhinolaryngology; Medicin människa och djur ; AAT; Medicine human and vertebrates ; SLPI; cytokines chemokines; anti-proteases; audiologi; hörsel- och talorganen; Airway inflammation; Otorinolaryngologi;

    Sammanfattning : Proteases and their inhibitors are implicated in the physiology and pathology of the airways. Protease inhibitors include those produced locally, such as secretory leukocyte protease inhibitor (SLPI), and those produced mainly by the liver that can reach the airways via passive diffusion, such as alpha1-antitrypsin (AAT). 4. 4. Antibacterial Effect and Inflammatory Response in Relation to Antibiotic Treatment of Sepsis

    Författare :Paul Skorup; Jan Sjölin; Miklós Lipcsey; Kristoffer Strålin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Sepsis; Septic shock; Antibiotics; Aminoglycoside; β-lactam; Bacteria; E. coli; Inflammation; Cytokines; Endotoxin; Porcine; ICU; Secondary sepsis; Endotoxin-tolerance.; Infektionssjukdomar; Infectious Diseases;

    Sammanfattning : Sepsis defines as life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. The importance of early administration of antibiotics in septic shock is undisputed, but the optimal antibiotic choice remains uncertain. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On CXC Chemokines in Endotoxin-Induced Liver Injury

    Författare :Xiang Li; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ortopedi; traumatologi; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; Surgery; patologisk anatomi; Patologi allmän ; pathological anatomy; General pathology; intravital microscopy; liver damage; Adhesion; CXC chemokines;

    Sammanfattning : Leukocyte recruitment is a rate-limiting step in endotoxemic liver injury. Leukocyte extravasation is a multistep process, supported by multiple combinations of adhesion molecules and chemokine receptors. This thesis examined the mechanisms of activation, adhesion and extravascular infiltration of leukocytes in endotoxin-induced liver injury. LÄS MER
