11. Corrosion and Surface Studies of Stainless Steel and Chromium Carbide Thin-Films
Sammanfattning : Although the passive films that form on stainless steels have been extensively studied, the concentration depth profiles are not fully understood. Their thinness makes passive films hard to study, but angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (ARXPS) is a non-destructive technique that can be used to obtain depth information. LÄS MER
12. Electrochemical characterisations of TiO2 nanotube and lithium-metal electrodes for lithium-based batteries
Sammanfattning : Lithium-ion batteries have since their introduction on the commercial market in the early 1990s played an important role within the field of energy storage. In this thesis both titanium dioxide, TiO2, and lithium metal are investigated based on their properties as anodes for lithium-based battery technologies. TiO2 nanotubes with lengths between 4. 13. Controlled manipulation of microparticles utilizing magnetic and dielectrophoretic forces
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents some experimental work in the area of manipulation of microparticles. Manipulation of both magnetic and non magnetic beads as well as microorganisms are addressed. The work on magnetic bead manipulation is focused on controlled transport and release, on a micrometer level, of proteins bound to the bead surface. LÄS MER
14. Preparation and Characterization of Electrochemical Devices for Energy Storage and Debonding
Sammanfattning : Within the framework of this thesis, three innovative electrochemical devices have been studied. A part of the work is devoted to an already existing device, laminates which are debonded by the application of a voltage. LÄS MER
15. Development and Investigations of Novel Sample Preparation Techniques : Electrochemical Extraction and Evaluation of Miniaturized Analytical Devices Coupled to Mass Spectrometry
Sammanfattning : Different sample preparation steps prior to a detection method are often essential in analytical chemistry. In this thesis, both static extractions and on-line coupled solid-phase extractions have been studied in combination with different detection techniques. LÄS MER
