    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to examine the rewriting of the memoirs of the former pirate Alexander Olivier Exquemelin, Los Piratas de América, originally published in Amsterdam in 1678, which the Mexican writer Carmen Boullosa carries out in two recent novels: Son vacas, somos puercos and El médico de los piratas. In the light of Gérard Genette’s theory of hypertextuality this study deals with the formal as well as the thematic aspects of this rewriting. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This book presents a critical edition of the Latin letters in ms. G3 (Uppsala University Library) from Johannes Annorelius to his brother. Johannes Annorelius left Sweden as a young student in the beginning of the 18th century and settled down in Flanders, where he converted to the Catholic faith and became a Capuchin friar. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The thesis explores the meaning and function of tears in Roman political culture during the Republic and the Early Empire in various historical settings: mourning, the law court, and in different political contexts where power, authority, and subjection were expressed or exercised. This is carried through by reading representations of weeping in Greek and Latin literary works in different genres, written by different authors. LÄS MER
