1. Mild traumatic brain injuries : the impact of early intervention on late sequelae
Sammanfattning : Aims: Studies I & II:To assess the incidence of Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) in western Sweden and to investigate health-related quality of life and post-concussion symptoms (PCS). Study III: To test the hypothesis that a programme of early rehabilitation for selected Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI) patients would reduce late sequelae. LÄS MER
2. Beyond Survival - Cognition after Pediatric Brain Tumor
Sammanfattning : Background: Pediatric Brain Tumor (PBT) survivors suffer from cognitive sequelae, especially within the areas of cognitive tempo, attention, executive function and memory. The cognitive difficulties are often accentuated over the years, but knowledge about the long term trajectory is still scarce. LÄS MER
3. Long-term Morbidity and Socioeconomic Outcome among Nordic Childhood Cancer Survivors
Sammanfattning : Survival after childhood cancer has improved dramatically during the past four decades, resulting in a five-year survival rate of 80% in children recently treated for cancer in the Nordic countries. However, these advances in treatment and survival has come at a price, and many survivors face significant treatment-induced sequelae, most of which only become clinically apparent many years after the child has been cured. 4. Acute pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) : Aspects of diagnosis, aetiology and sequelae epidemiology and prevention
Sammanfattning : This long-period (1970-1997) longitudinal clinical and epidemiologic study elucidated risk factors, diagnosis and causative agents of acute pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), more importantly Neisseria gonorrhoeae (Ng) and Chlamydia trachomatis (Ct), and analysed the occurrence of late sequelae, particularly ectopic pregnancy (EP), and prevention.Totally 2574 patients (age 14-55 years) were hospitalised and treated for PID. 5. Primary deep vein thrombosis in an upper limb : a retrospective study with an emphasis on the pathogenesis and late sequelae
Sammanfattning : Background: Upper extremity deep vein thrombosis (UEDVT) is an uncommon disease with an incidence of 1–11% of all deep vein thrombosis. UEDVT can be classified into two groups, primary and secondary UEDVT. Primary UEDVT includes idiopathic and effort-related UEDVT. Secondary UEDVT is caused by central venous devices, trauma, and cancer. LÄS MER
