  1. 1. Adhesion to machined and laser ablated wood surfaces

    Författare :Micael Stehr; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; ablation; adhesion; checks; coating; cracks; excimer laser; gluing; IR laser; mechanical machining; mechanical weak boundary layer; microscopy; notched specimens; pine; planing; sample preparation; sawing; scanning electronmicroscopy; spruce; tip-cracks; UV laser; weak boundary layer; wood;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is a contribution to the R&D-program ValueActivation at KTH,Division of Wood Technology and Processingand containsfive papers related to the evaluation and development ofmachining techniques (mechanical and irradiation treatments)whereby weak boundaries at the wood surfaces in the form of(mechanical) weak boundary layers and (micro) cracks due tomechanical treatment can be avoided.The first paper describes the development of a method–using a UV laser–to study the mechanically weakenedboundaries. 2. 2. Spectral analysis in laser powder bed fusion

    Författare :Benedikt Brandau; Frank Brückner; Alexander Kaplan; Dan Roth-Fagaraseanu; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Spectral monitoring; Laser powder bed fusion; Laser optics; Absorbance; Produktionsutveckling; Manufacturing Systems Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is about the investigation of the spectral interaction of electromagnetic radiation with metal powders. For this purpose, spectral data of powders for laser powder bed fusion processes are investigated in three papers using different techniques. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Blue Laser Source for Laser-Induced Fluorescence

    Författare :Jesper Holm; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Second Harmonic Generation; Lasers; PPKTP; ALA; Tapered laser diodes; External cavity lasers; Laser-induced fluorescence; photodynamic therapy; mTHPC;

    Sammanfattning : Laser-induced fluorescence is a clinical diagnostic tool, used for tumor demarcation and detection. The technique relies on the injection or topical application of a light sensitive drug called a photosensitizer. This substance has the ability to be accumulated to higher concentrations in cancer cells than in normal cells. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Self-calibration and direct georeferencing in terrestrial laser scanning

    Författare :Yuriy Reshetyuk; Lars E. Sjöberg; Milan Horemuz; Hansjörg Kutterer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; terrestrial laser scanning; self-calibration; direct georeferencing; error sources; Surveying; Lantmäteri;

    Sammanfattning : An important step in data processing from terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) is georeferencing, i.e. transformation of the scanner data (point clouds) into a real world coordinate system, which is important for their integration with other geospatial data. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Laser Diagnostic Techniques with Ultra-High Repetition Rate for Studies in Combustion Environments

    Författare :Jimmy Olofsson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High-Speed; High Repetition Rate; LIF; PLIF; 3D Visualisation; Engine; Teknik; Technological sciences; Fysik; Physics; Combustion; Laserteknik; Laser technology; Laser-Induced Fluorescence; Laser Diagnostics;

    Sammanfattning : When conducting laser based diagnostics in combustion environments it is often desirable to obtain temporally resolved information. This can be due to several factors such as combustion taking place in a turbulent flow field, flame propagation from a spark plug in an initially quiescent combustible mixture, or rapid, multi-point fuel consumption in a homogeneous charge as a result of compression ignition in an engine cycle.
