16. Enhancing Short-Term Traffic Prediction for Large-Scale Transport Networks by Spatio-Temporal Clustering
Sammanfattning : Congestion in large cities is responsible for extra travel time, noise, air pollution, CO2 emissions, and more. Transport is one of the main recognized contributors to global warming and climate change, which is getting increasing attention from authorities and societies around the world. LÄS MER
17. Analysis of large scale rock slopes
Sammanfattning : The objective of this work was to (1) increase the knowledge of the behavior of large scale rock slopes, (2) improve the ability to estimate rock mass strength for such slopes, and (3) develop an improved design methodology for forward design of large scale slopes in open pit mining. A fourth objective included the application of the results to the Aitik open pit in northern Sweden. LÄS MER
18. Convection in large scale numerical models : parameterization and forecasts of precipitation probability
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the problem of including the effects of moist convection in the atmosphere in a large scale numerical forecast model and how to interpret and evaluate the predicted convective precipitation. Two methods for parameterizing convection in a large scale numerical forecast model are tested to find the most appropriate one for precipitation forecasts in the mid-latitudes. 19. Large-scale simulation of neuronal systems
Sammanfattning : Biologically detailed computational models of large-scale neuronal networks have now become feasible due to the development of increasingly powerful massively parallel supercomputers. We report here about the methodology involved in simulation of very large neuronal networks. LÄS MER
20. Robust large-scale mapping and localization : Combining robust sensing and introspection
Sammanfattning : The presence of autonomous systems is rapidly increasing in society and industry. To achieve successful, efficient, and safe deployment of autonomous systems, they must be navigated by means of highly robust localization systems. LÄS MER
