  1. 1. Why the pond is not outside the frog? Grounding in contextual representations by neural language models

    Författare :Mehdi Ghanimifard; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computational linguistics; Language grounding; Spatial language; Distributional semantics; Computer vision; Language modelling; Vision and language; Neural language model; Grounded language model;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, to build a multi-modal system for language generation and understanding, we study grounded neural language models. Literature in psychology informs us that spatial cognition involves different aspects of knowledge that include visual perception and human interaction with the world. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modelling Phone-Level Pronunciation in Discourse Context

    Författare :Per-Anders Jande; Rolf Carlson; Merle Horne; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pronunciation modelling; Pronunciation variation; Discourse-context; Phone-level variation; Central standard Swedish; Spoken language annotation; Data-driven methods; Machine learning; Decision trees; Pronunciation lexicon development; Machine-readable lexicon; Phonology; Discourse; Lexicon; Language technology; Språkteknologi;

    Sammanfattning : Analytic knowledge about the systematic variation in a language has an important place in the description of the language. Such knowledge is interesting e.g. in the language teaching domain, as a background for various types of linguistic studies, and in the development of more dynamic speech technology applications. 4. 4. Generalized Hebbian Algorithm for Dimensionality Reduction in Natural Language Processing

    Författare :Genevieve Gorrell; Arne Jönsson; Robin Cooper; Alexander Rudnicky; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Generalized Hebbian Algorithm; Language Modelling; Singular Value Decomposition; Eigen Decomposition; Latent Semantic Analysis; Vector Space Models; Computational linguistics; Datorlingvistik;

    Sammanfattning : The current surge of interest in search and comparison tasks in natural language processing has brought with it a focus on vector space approaches and vector space dimensionality reduction techniques. Presenting data as points in hyperspace provides opportunities to use a variety of welldeveloped tools pertinent to this representation. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the topic of grounding in human-robot interaction, that is, the process by which the human and robot can ensure mutual understanding. To explore this topic, the scenario of a robot holding a presentation to a human audience is used, where the robot has to process multimodal feedback from the human in order to adapt the presentation to the human's level of understanding.
