  1. 16. Uncertainty, Worth, Identity : How Early Career Academics Navigate Evaluative Landscapes

    Författare :Jonatan Nästesjö; Utbildningsvetenskap; []

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation explores the interplay between valuation and academic socialization, addressing the question: how do early career academics navigate evaluative landscapes? Having completed their doctoral education but yet to find stable employment, early career academics are generally viewed as the most vulnerable group of academic staff. Comparing how individuals within this group seek to demonstrate their worth in order to be recognized by others and advance in their careers, I try to make sense of their world. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Dispersal of bryophytes across landscapes

    Författare :Niklas Lönnell; Kristoffer Hylander; Bengt Gunnar Jonsson; Sebastian Sundberg; Johan Ehrlén; Risto Virtanen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; anemochory; bryophytes; colonization; connectivity; diaspores; dispersal kernel; establishment; spore dispersal; long-distance dispersal; mechanistic model; mosses; realized dispersal; spore release; Lagrangian stochastic model; wind dispersal; Plant Ecology; växtekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Dispersal, especially long-distance dispersal, is an important component in many disciplines within biology. Many species are passively dispersed by wind, not least spore-dispersed organisms.In this thesis I investigated the dispersal capacity of bryophytes by studying the colonization patterns from local scales (100 m) to landscape scales (20 km). 3. 18. Gränser i livet - gränser i landskapet : Generationsrelationer och rituella praktiker i södermanländska bronsålderslandskap

    Författare :Susanne Thedéen; Bo Petre; Stig Welinder; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Bronze Age; East Central Sweden; Landscapes; Cosmology; Life Course; Gender; Children; Passage Rituals; Mortuary Practices; Cultural Construction of Age; Cairns; Heaps of Fire-Cracked Stones; Razors; Pins; Archaeology subjects; Arkeologiämnen;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with issues relating to the cosmological dimensions of landscapes, the cultural construction of age and the long-term changes in passage rituals and mortuary practices in the Bronze Age societies of Södermanland in East Central Sweden. A gender perspective forms the underlying theoretical framework, while the study as a whole is particularly interested in power relations between generations as an impetus for societal change. 4. 19. Small remnant habitats : Important structures in fragmented landscapes

    Författare :Jessica Lindgren; Sara Cousins; Regina Lindborg; Adam Kimberley; Ove Eriksson; Hans Henrik Bruun; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alpha-diversity; Beta-diversity; Biological pest control; Canopy cover; Connectivity; Ecosystem function; Fleshy fruits; Forest edge; Forest management; Forest specialist species; Fragmentation; Functional diversity; Gamma-diversity; Grassland specialist species; Green infrastructure; Habitat amount hypothesis; Island biogeography; Midfield islets; Plant diversity; Plant-pollinator interaction; Pollination; Remnant habitat; Seed predation; Small habitats; Species richness; Structural heterogeneity; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : The world-wide intensification of agriculture has led to a decline in species richness due to land use change, isolation, and fragmentation of natural and semi-natural habitats in agricultural and forestry landscapes. As a consequence, there is a current landscape management focus on the importance of green infrastructure to mitigate biodiversity decline and preserve ecosystem functions e. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Continuous Landscapes in Finite Space : Making Sense of Satellite Images in Social Science

    Författare :Anders Wästfelt; Ulf Sporrong; Christer Persson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Land use; Landcover; Landscape; Landscape transition; Landscape characterisation; Remote sensed images; Spatial context; Hybrid characterisation; Human geography; Kulturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : Questions of landscape values connected to agriculture and environment are always related to local land use. In order to study land use it is necessary to understand the intentions of the users as well as the conditions for land use in a specific landscape. LÄS MER
