  1. 1. Fire history in the hemiboreal and southern boreal zones of southern Sweden during 11000 years : Relationships with past vegetation composition and human activities and implications for biodiversity issues

    Författare :Qiao-Yu Cui; Marie-José Gaillard; Boris Vannière; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fire history; land-use history; biodiversity; charcoal analysis; Landscape Reconstruction Algorithm LRA ; Holocene; Småland; Sweden; Paleoecology; Paleoekologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis studies fire history over the last 11 000 years (Holocene) in central Småland, southern Sweden, on the basis of palaeoecological analyses of peat sequences from three small bogs (Notteryd, Stavsåkra and Storasjö). The main objective is to gain insights into the long-term relationships between fire, climate, human-impact, other environmental factors and the history of biodiversity in the study region. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A palaeolimnological study of the anthropogenic impact on dissolved organic carbon in South Swedish lakes

    Författare :Petra Bragée; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; DOC; Brownification; Landscape Reconstruction Algorithm; Land-use changes; Lake sediments; Anthropogenic impact;

    Sammanfattning : During the past three decades, increases have been observed in dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentrations and colour in the surface waters of lakes and rivers in parts of Europe and North America, raising concern about the effects on the quality of aquatic environments with consequences for biodiversity, resource availability and recreational use. Various hypotheses have been put forward to explain the recent increases in DOC concentration and numerous studies have been published linking them to declining anthropogenic atmospherically deposited sulphur. 3. 3. The impact of past land-use change on floristic diversity in southern Sweden : a quantitative approach based on high-resolution pollen data

    Författare :Daniel Fredh; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the relationship between land-use and floristic diversity over the last three millennia in the uplands of southern Sweden. A quantitative approach based on high-resolution pollen data was applied, using the Landscape Reconstruction Algorithm (LRA), historical maps/aerial photographs, palynological richness and new ways to estimate past evenness at regional and local spatial scales, which enable estimates of the rate and degree of change in land-use and floristic diversity. 4. 4. The long-term history of temperate broadleaves in southern Sweden

    Författare :Tove Hultberg; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Temperate broadleaves used to be abundant in the primeval forests in southern Sweden, yet today they cover only fractions of the forest land. Considering the present small area of the forest type, the habitat is of considerable interest for biodiversity, and knowledge about the history of temperate broadleaves is crucial for forest conservation and management.
