  1. 21. Genetic Alterations in Early Onset Breast Cancer

    Författare :Massimiliano Gentile; Anne-Lise Börresen-Dale; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Cancer is in essence a genetic disease, brought about by an accumulation of alterations in genes that encode proteins responsible for the control of cell growth, cell death and the maintenance of genomic integrity. Recent years have seen the unravelling of numerous genes that are targeted in carcinogenesis. LÄS MER

  2. 22. On the clinical value of genetic analysis in colorectal cancer patients

    Författare :Ulrik Lindforss; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In Sweden, the incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) is about 5000 new cases every year and this number has not changed markedly during the past twenty years. 90-95% of all CRC appear spontaneously, but there are also inherited forms of CRC (5-10%) of which the two most common are familiar adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and hereditary non-polyposis colorectal carcinoma (HNPCC). 3. 23. Molecular changes in the tumour suppressor genes p53 and CDKN2A/ARF in human urinary bladder cancer

    Författare :Petra Berggren; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Urinary bladder neoplasm is the ninth most common cancer in Europe and the United States. The incidence in Sweden is approximately 32 for men and 9 for women per 105 subjects and year and almost all cases are transitional cell carcinoma (TCC). LÄS MER

  4. 24. A genetic study on familial breast cancer predisposing genes

    Författare :Liping Luo; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Breast cancer is the most common malignant disease among women in the western world and 10% of all breast cancer is assumed to constitute hereditary cases. Two major genes, BRCA1 and BRCA2, can only explain a fraction of familial breast cancer. The ATM carriers have high risk of developing breast cancer. LÄS MER

  5. 25. O6-methylguanine-DNA-methyltransferase and DNA mismatch repair in relation to drug resistance in malignant melanoma

    Författare :Shuhua Ma; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Melanoma; chemotherapy; dacarbazine; drug resistance; O6-methylguanineDNAmethyltransferase; DNA mismatch repair;

    Sammanfattning : Although the survival rate of patients with malignant melanoma has improved, treatment of the disease poses large problems since disseminated melanoma frequently shows primary resistance to chemotherapy. Resistance to chemotherapy is thus a major clinical problem and a cause of failure in the treatment of metastatic malignant melanoma. LÄS MER
