  1. 1. Early events of EBV mediated B cell transformation

    Författare :Katja Pokrovskaja; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :EBV; EBNA; p53; LMP-1; BL; GC; pNDCFs;

    Sammanfattning : Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) efficiently immortalizes B cells in vitro leading to the establishment of lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs). Genes encoding RB and p53 are frequently deleted or mutated in human tumors. EBV immortalized LCLs, however, retain both genes in their wild type state. LÄS MER

  2. 2. The role of the microenvironment on the regulation of Epstein-Barr virus latent gene expression

    Författare :Loránd Levente Kis; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a human-specific gamma-herpes virus of the Lymphocryptovirus genus that has succeeded to colonize more than 90% of the adult population. EBV s coevolution with humans has established a largely harmless co-existence that depends on the variability of viral gene expression and on the immunological host response. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Activation, adhesion and motility of B lymphocytes in health and disease

    Författare :Natalija Gerasimcik; Eva Severinson; Victor Tybulewicz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; B cells; activation; motility; IL-4; EBV; Dock10; Cdc42; Rac1 and Rac2; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : B cells can be activated by T cell-dependent stimuli, such as CD40 ligation and cytokines, which induce extensive proliferation, class switch recombination and somatic hypermutation.Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) can also induce B cell activation by mimicking T cell help through its main oncoprotein, latent membrane protein 1 (LMP-1). 4. 4. Studies on lipid transport and extracellular vesicle production in Caenorhabditis elegans ciliated neurons

    Författare :Shapour Rahmani; Simon Tuck; Jonathan D. Gilthorpe; Anders Olsen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; C. elegans; cilia; extracellular vesicles; tat; phospholipid translocase; P4-family ATPase;

    Sammanfattning : The cilium is a protrusion of cell membrane. Both the protein and lipid contents of cilia are different from those of other parts of the cell membrane. While the transport of proteins into and out of cilia has been intensively studied, much less is known about how the lipid content of ciliary membranes is regulated. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Role of latent EBV genes in the induction of genomic instability in Burkitt’s lymphoma

    Författare :Bettina Gruhne; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Epidemiological and molecular evidence link Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection to a variety of lymphoid and epithelial malignancies but the contribution of the virus to tumorigenesis is unclear. Genomic instability, defined by the establishment of a mutator phenotype and characterized by the occurrence of non-clonal chromosomal aberrations, excessive DNA damage and defects in DNA repair, is the hallmark of malignant transformation.
