  1. 1. The Role of Lhx2 During Organogenesis : - Analysis of the Hepatic, Hematopoietic and Olfactory Systems

    Författare :Åsa Kolterud; Leif Carlsson; Stefan Thor; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; LIM-homeobox gene; Lhx2; fetal liver; hepatic stellate cells; hematopoietic stem cells; septum transversum; self-renewal; odorant receptor genes; olfactory epithelium; olfactory sensory neuron; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : During embryonic development a variety of tissues and organs such as the lung, eye, and kidney are being formed. The generation of functional organs is regulated by reciprocal cell-cell interactions. Via the secretion of soluble molecules one type of cells affect the fate of their neighboring cells. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Molecular and cellular analysis of Lhx2 function in hematopoietic stem cells

    Författare :Karin Richter; Leif Carlsson; Andrew Elefanty; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Hematopoietic stem cells; Lhx2; cell lines; self renewal; SCF; IL-6; chronic myeloproliferative disorder; global gene expression analysis; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The formation of blood, hematopoiesis, is a dynamic process originating from a small number of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). To sustain hematopoiesis throughout life HSCs have the unique capacity to differentiate into all mature hematopoietic lineages as well as generating more HSCs by a mechanism referred to as self-renewal. 3. 3. Regulatory function of homeobox genes in the development of C. elegans

    Författare :Yong-Guang Tong; Södertörns högskola; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The nematode worm Caenorhabditis elegans has been widely used as a genetic model for over 40 years to investigate developmental control genes. In this thesis, I studied the roles of several homeobox genes and a novel RNA binding protein (RBD) in the development of C. elegans to understand the function of these genes in higher organisms.
