  1. 16. Life cycle assessment in the development of forest products : Contributions to improved methods and practices

    Författare :Gustav Sandin; Magdalena Svanström; Greg Peters; Mats Westin; Annica Pilgård; Michael Narodoslawsky; RISE; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; R D; LCA; Life cycle assessment; wood; forest product; forestry; impact assessment; scenario modelling; end-of-life modelling; allocation; multi-functional; planetary boundaries; life cycle inventory; life cycle impact assessment; environmental assessment;

    Sammanfattning : The prospect of reducing environmental impacts is a key driver for the research and development (R&D) of new forest products. Life cycle assessment (LCA) is often used for assessing the environmental impact of such products, e.g. for the purpose of guiding R&D. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Chemical substitution with a life cycle perspective: The case of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in durable water repellents

    Författare :Hanna Holmquist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LCIA; CAA; LCA; PFAS; DWR;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the research presented in this thesis was to support the process of substitution of side-chain fluorinated polymers in durable water repellents (DWRs), that give rise to emissions of hazardous per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs). The focus was on: i) the provision of improved decision support regarding the environmental and human health performance of alternatives, and ii) public readiness for substitution and what messages can motivate consumers to voluntary substitution. 3. 18. Towards Sustainable Construction: Life Cycle Assessment of Railway Bridges

    Författare :Guangli Du; Raid Karoumi; Håkan Sundquist; Helge Brattebo; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Life cycle assessment; LCA; Environment; Railway Bridge; Sustainability; Järnvägsgruppen - Infrastruktur; Järnvägsgruppen - Infrastruktur;

    Sammanfattning : Since last few decades, the increased pressure from the environmental issues of natural resource depletion, global warming and air pollution have posed a great challenge worldwide. Among all the industrial fields, bridge infrastructures and their belonged construction sector contribute to a wide range of energy and raw materials consumptions, which is responsible for the most significant pollutions. 4. 19. Using life cycle assessment to support the development of electrified road vehicles. Component data models, methodology recommendations and technology advice for minimizing environmental impact

    Författare :Anders Nordelöf; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; inverter; magnet; LCI; electrical machine; stepwise improvements; electric vehicle; LCA; inventory data; motor; critical review; scalable model;

    Sammanfattning : The anthropogenic pressure on the Earth system already overshoots safe limits for climate change, so there is an urgent need to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions caused by transportation. Electric propulsion technology is a promising solution that can decouple fossil fuel use from road vehicle traffic. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Broadening the perspective on seafood production: Life cycle thinking and fisheries management

    Författare :Sara Hornborg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LCA; Nephrops; fuel use; Eastern Baltic cod; fisheries management; threatened species; trophic indicators;

    Sammanfattning : Decisions made by fisheries managers strongly influence the overall resource use and environmental impacts associated with the seafood product from capture fisheries. These findings come from Life Cycle Assessments (LCA), a method that aims at quantifying all relevant resource use and environmental impacts throughout the life cycle of a product. LÄS MER
