Sammanfattning : Recycling as part of environmental considerations has become a common feature in architecture and building construction. Recycling of building waste can make a considerable contribution to reducing the total environmental impact of the building sector. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : This thesis is an investigation into how meta-heuristic multi-objective optimisation processes (genetic algorithms driven by evolutionary solvers) can bring about materials-related advantages in architectural performance. It redefines the architect’s and engineer’s role from being designers of a singular space or structure to being designers of entire species of spaces, and discusses a particular method – anticipatory adaptive assemblages (AAA) – that allows such processes to produce many generations of design iterations that eventually yield individuals optimised for a set of predefined objectives. 3. An analysis of architectural and urban planning strategies for developing energy efficient cities in China
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a detailed analysis of architecture and urban planning strategies for developingenergy-efficient cities in a Chinese context. The overall aim of the work is to examine how Chineseurbanisation and city construction can be improved from an energy-saving perspective. LÄS MER
4. Environmental systems analysis tools for decision-making : LCA and Swedish waste management as an example
Sammanfattning : Decisions are made based on information of different kinds. Several tools have been developed to facilitate the inclusion of environmental aspects in decision-making on different levels. Which tool to use in a specific decision-making situation depends on the decision context. LÄS MER
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses information structuring for reducing cost, facilitate understandability, increase relevance and improve quality of environmental information. The research is based in experience, practical results and syntheses from three different but related research and development projects conducted between 1994 and 2004. LÄS MER
