  1. 11. Novel Solid Phase Extraction and Mass Spectrometry Approaches to Multicomponent Analyses in Complex Matrices

    Författare :Nahid Amini; Gunnar Thorsén; Tuulia Hyötyläinen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sample preparation; SPE; RAM; GCB µ-trap; GCB disk; High temperature LC; LC MS; ESI; APCI; Matrix effects; LIT-MS; SALDI; Sample screening; Oxidized GCB; Silicon nitride; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Analysis of compounds present in complex matrices is always a challenge, which can be partly overcome by applying various sample preparation techniques prior to detection. Ideally, the extraction techniques should be as selective as possible, to minimize the concentration of interfering substances. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Developing tools for non-target analysis and digital archiving of organic urban water pollutants

    Författare :Cathrin Veenaas; Peter Haglund; Per Liljelind; Christine Gallampois; Mehran Alaee; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Digital archiving; non-target screening; organic pollutants; sewage sludge; GC-MS; GC×GC; LC-MS; time-trend analysis; retention indices; retention time prediction;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes efforts to develop robust methods for the creation and use of digital archives of environmental samples, and proposes guidelines based on the results. Digital archives are repositories that store environmental samples digitally. LÄS MER

  3. 13. The Impact of Drugs of Abuse on the Neuroproteome : Application of Immunoblotting and LC-MS-based Proteomics

    Författare :Uwe Rossbach; Pierre Le Grevès; Fred Nyberg; Matthias Hallberg; Jan Kehr; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Qualitative and quantitative analysis of proteins can be based either on immunological or on mass spectrometry-utilizing methods. In this thesis, different approaches of protein analysis were applied to elucidate the impact of drugs of abuse on the rat brain. Androgens have been reported to affect mood, anxiety and memory function. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Amino acids with relevance to health, climate and the environment : Development of mass spectrometric methods

    Författare :Javier Zurita; Leopold Ilag; Ulrika Nilsson; Margareta Törnqvist; Natalia Tretyakova; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; amino acids; LC MS; fixed-charge derivatization; BMAA; chiral separation; pheromones; arctic aerosols; serum albumin adducts; benzo[a]pyrene diol epoxides; high-resolution MS; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Amino acids play vital roles in health, either in their native form or chemically modified. Some studies have linked certain non-proteinogenic amino acids to neurodegenerative diseases, such as in the case of β-methylaminoalanine (BMAA). LÄS MER

  5. 15. Unraveling the importance of thiol compounds on mercury speciation, uptake and transformation by the iron-reducer Geobacter sulfurreducens

    Författare :Mareike Franziska Gutensohn; Erik Björn; Ulf Skyllberg; Jeffra K. Schaefer; Vera Slaveykova; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mercury; low molecular mass thiols; speciation; uptake; methylation; reduction; Hg 0 ; Hg II ; MeHg; Geobacter sulfurreducens; ICP-MS; LC-MS MS; X-ray absorption spectroscopy; cell physiology;

    Sammanfattning : The biogenic methylation of inorganic, divalent mercury (Hg(II)) by methylating microorganisms leads to formation and bioaccumulation of monomethyl mercury (MeHg) in the environment and can cause severe damage to ecosystems and human health. Diverse microorganisms carry the gene sequence hgcAB and are able to methylate Hg(II) intracellularly. LÄS MER
