  1. 1. Modelling and Experimental Investigations on Thermal Radiation in Combustion Environments

    Författare :Henrik Hofgren; Värmeöverföring; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermal radiation; Property model; SNB; WSGG; LBL; Planck; particle; fly-ash; soot; grate; furnace; combustion;

    Sammanfattning : Thermal radiation is an important physical phenomenon in combustion environments. For the understanding of existing- and the design of new combustion environments computational modelling is a useful tool as it can describe the different transport phenomena. LÄS MER

    Författare :Zahra Haider; Sofie Degerman; Magnus Hultdin; Göran Roos; Pieter van Vlierberghe; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia; Lymphoma; T-ALL; BCP-ALL; T-LBL; DNA methylation; CIMP; Prognosis; TAL1; HOX.;

    Sammanfattning : Precursor lymphoid neoplasms, namely acute lymphoblastic leukemias (ALL) and lymphoblastic lymphomas (LBL), are characterized by an aggressive proliferation of malignant progenitor B- or T-cells. To improve risk classification at diagnosis, better prognostic and treatment stratifying biomarkers are needed. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Development of Non-leaching Antibacterial Approaches on Cellulose-based Substrates and Their Mechanisms

    Författare :Chao Chen; Monica Ek; Josefin Illergård; Stefan Spirk; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Layer-by-layer; antibacterial; cellulose materials; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The layer-by-layer (LbL) technique is becoming a powerful tool that has been applied in many surface coatings and functionalizations in recent years. It has many advantages including a fast and mild process, the flexibility of choice of substrate, and the easiness to scale-up. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Molecular Interactions in Thin Films of Biopolymers, Colloids and Synthetic Polyelectrolytes

    Författare :Johansson Erik; Lars Wågberg; Andreas Fery; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polyelectrolyte multilayers; Layer-by-Layer assembly; Adhesion; Adsorption; Young s modulus; Mechanical buckling; AFM; JKR; SPAR; QCM-D; SIEBIMM; PAH; PAA; Starch; NFC; Nanocellulose;

    Sammanfattning : The development of the layer-by-layer (LbL) technique has turned out to be an efficient way to physically modify the surface properties of different materials, for example to improve the adhesive interactions between fibers in paper. The main objective of the work described in this thesis was to obtain fundamental data concerning the adhesive properties of wood biopolymers and LbL films, including the mechanical properties of the thin films, in order to shed light on the molecular mechanisms responsible for the adhesion between these materials. Sammanfattning : Cancer represents a significant global public health challenge and ranks as the second mostcommon cause of death in the United States. The onset of cancer entails an initial phasewhere cells lose their polarity and disconnect from the normal basement membrane, allowingthem to form distinct three-dimensional (3D) configurations that interact with adjacent cellsand the surrounding microenvironment.
