Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the spoken L3 German of Swedish CLIL learners in lower secondary school (grades 8-9) in comparison to Swedish non-CLIL controls and German native speakers; its main objective is to investigate whether the CLIL approach has a positive impact on L3 production. The study deals with vocabulary size and frequency in the spoken lexicon as well as communicative strategies and is based on data consisting of narratives elicited through the retelling of Mayer’s well-known picture story Frog, where are you? Material was also elicited in the learners’ L1 Swedish and in their L2 English. LÄS MER
8. Learning Idiomaticity : A Corpus-Based Study of Idiomatic Expressions in Learners' Written Production
Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to investigate how Swedish learners of English (at different levels of proficiency) master idiomaticity in their target language. I argue that idiomaticity can be related to the storage and use of multi-word expressions that are preferred by native speakers. LÄS MER
9. L1 Japanese Attrition and Regaining : Three Case Studies of Two Early Bilingual Children
Sammanfattning : The present study reports three cases of LI Japanese loss and regaining (Shoko 3; 10, HI 5;5 and H2 7;0 at the time the subjects left Japan for non-Japanese environments) by two siblings (one of them was studied twice at two different times) who grew up as Japanese-English bilinguals from birth. It describes the lexical and syntactic changes of the language in details, discerns the nature of the loss, and investigates the relationship between attrition and age and pre-attrition proficiency.
