1. A beta-phosphoglucomutase in carbohydrate metabolism of Lactococcus lactis
Sammanfattning : Phosphoglucomutase (PGM) catalyzes the reversible conversion of glucose 1-phosphate to glucose 6-phosphate. Two distinct forms of PGM have been purifed and charactierized in Lactococcus lactis growing on maltose: one specific for the alpha-isomer, and the other specific for the beta-isomer of glucose 1-phosphate. 2. A Novel Signal Model and Estimation Method for Acoustic Doppler Current Meters
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the process of estimating underwater current from the backscattering signal transmitted from an ultrasonic transducer. The narrowband sinusoidal burst signal is Doppler-shifted due to the current, and this information is converted into current. LÄS MER
3. Molecular Genetic Studies of the Blood Group ABO Locus in Man
Sammanfattning : The ABO blood group system is undoubtedly the most important genetic and phenotypic marker in clinical transfusion medicine. The A and B determinants are immunodominant, terminally located carbohydrate residues of glycoconjugates on erythrocytes and other cell surfaces. LÄS MER
4. Signalling in plant mitochondria. Redox regulation of gene expression & characterisation of a pea nucleoside diphosphate kinase
Sammanfattning : This work contributes to our understanding of mitochondrial responses to changing environmental conditions in plants. The first part of this thesis is focused in the study of redox regulation of mitochondrial gene expression. By using inhibitors, the redox state of the components of the mitochondrial respiratory chain was selectively affected. LÄS MER
5. Efficient parallell architectures for future radar signal processing
Sammanfattning : The processing demands on future embedded radar signal processors may stretch to several trillions of floating-point operations per second (TFLOPS). This is an increase of two to three orders of magnitude realtive to the requirements of today. Still, the tight size and power constraints are unchanged. LÄS MER
