  2. 2. Ticks - ecology, new hazards, and relevance for public health

    Författare :Thérese Janzén; Monica Hammer; Patrik Dinnétz; Mona Petersson; Lars Korslund; Södertörns högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Baltic Sea region; eco-epidemiology; habitat; Ixodes persulcatus; Ixodes ricinus; landscape; risk; urbanization; Environmental Studies; Miljövetenskapliga studier; Östersjö- och Östeuropaforskning; Baltic and East European studies;

    Sammanfattning : Ticks and tick-borne diseases are ranking second only to mosquitoes as vectors of pathogens responsible for diseases in both humans and domestic animals. In the countries around the Baltic Sea, two medically important tick species are increasing both in range and abundance, and the public health threat posed by tick-borne diseases in this area is steadily growing. 3. 3. Genetic adaptation to soil acidification in four grasses

    Författare :Pernilla Göransson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Växtekologi; Plant ecology; Deschampsia flexuosa; Deschampsia cespitosa; Elymus caninus; Poa nemoralis; arbuscular mycorrhiza; stress; tolerance; genetic variation; local adaptation; Al; Soil acidification; pH;

    Sammanfattning : Soil acidification has become a source of serious concern in many parts of the world. In southern Sweden, the deposition of acidifying substances, such as nitrogen and sulphur compounds, has decreased the mean pH of forest soils by almost one unit since the 1950s. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Development of the Lund AMS facility for the detection of Al-26 -- with applications in plant ecology

    Författare :Mikko Faarinen; Kärnfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ion source; injector; plant material; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; aluminium; Accelerator mass spectrometry; AMS; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Faarinen;

    Sammanfattning : Accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) is a highly sensitive technique to count atoms. The method has a high efficiency, which makes it possible to measure small samples in a relatively short time, usually less than an hour. During the work for this thesis, methods have been developed to detect Al-26 at the Lund AMS facility. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Multispectral Remote Sensing and Deep Learning for Wildfire Detection

    Författare :Xikun Hu; Yifang Ban; Ioannis Gitas; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; active fire detection; biome; multi-criteria; Sentinel-2; Landsat-8; burned area mapping; deep learning; semantic segmentation; machine learning.; aktiv branddetektering; biom; multikriterietillvägagångssätt; Sentinel-2; Landsat-8; kartläggning av bränt område; djupinlärning; semantisk segmentering; maskininlärningsmetoderna; Geoinformatik; Geoinformatics;

    Sammanfattning : Remote sensing data has great potential for wildfire detection and monitoring with enhanced spatial resolution and temporal coverage. Earth Observation satellites have been employed to systematically monitor fire activity over large regions in two ways: (i) to detect the location of actively burning spots (during the fire event), and (ii) to map the spatial extent of the burned scars (during or after the event).
