16. Investigating Effects of Water Injection on SI Engines
Sammanfattning : In recent years, there has been a major shift towards the partial or complete electrification of vehicles that have traditionally been powered by conventional internal combustion (IC) engines; almost all major automotive manufacturers have rightly stated that they will make such a shift. This has been motivated in large part by pressure from governments and policymakers to minimize vehicular emissions, especially those of the greenhouse gas CO2, in order to control climate change. 17. Towards High Efficiency Powertrains
Sammanfattning : In recent years there has been a great shift whereby conventional vehicles powered by an internal combustion (IC) engine are being partially or completely replaced by electrified alternatives; almost all major automotive manufacturers have made statements indicating a shift towards electrification. This shift has been driven in large part by concerns about climate change, which have prompted lawmakers to introduce increasingly strict regulations limiting vehicular emissions, particularly of carbon dioxide (CO2). 18. Full Cycle Engine Simulations with Detailed Chemistry
Sammanfattning : The modeling work developed in this thesis can be divided in two main areas of investigations: autoignition related to spark ignition engine and combustion and emissions formation in relation to diesel engines. A first version of a detailed kinetics engine simulation program, extended to handle full cycle calculations, was employed in order to demonstrate the strong effect that nitric oxide from the residual gas has on the autoignition onset. 19. Development of Dual-broadband Rotational CARS for Combustion Diagnostics
Sammanfattning : The present thesis concerns development and application of dual-broadband rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (DB-RCARS) for temperature and species concentration measurements in combustion processes. Both fundamental development of the technique, including experimental as well as modelling results, and measurements in practical combustion devices were conducted. LÄS MER
20. Control of metabolism and hormone secretion from pancreatic alpha and beta cells
Sammanfattning : Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) is a multifactorial disease, which has made it difficult to resolve its pathophysiology. We investigated processes that could contribute to the development of T2D. LÄS MER
