  1. 1. Knee ligament injuries in male professional football players

    Författare :Matilda Lundblad; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; knee; ligament; MCL; LCL; ACL; PCL; professional football;

    Sammanfattning : ABSTRACT Knee ligament injuries are common in professional football and entail a significant time loss from football, but studies of knee ligament injuries other than anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are scarce. The aim of this thesis was prospectively to study the epidemiology and characteristics of medial collateral ligament (MCL), lateral collateral ligament (LCL) and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injuries in male professional football players with the main emphasis on MCL injuries. 2. 2. The normal and ACL deficient knee : an in vivo three dimensional kinematic and electromyographic analysis

    Författare :Dan K Ramsey; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Knee; Tibia; Femur; Tibiofemoral contact points; Tibiofemoral kinematics; Anterior cruciate ligament; ACL injury; Knee brace; Knee instability; Bone pin; Magnetic resonance imaging; NM; Neuromuscular adaptation; Electromyography.;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe the in-vivo 3D kinematics of the normal and ACL deficient knee. Baseline data from normal controls were compared against the pathological knee to assess whether generic functional knee braces reduced abnormal displacements. Moreover, 3D bony contact movements were derived from MRI data. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with bone-patellar tendon-bone graft : postoperative intervention and influential factors for patient-relevant long-term outcome

    Författare :Eva Möller; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ACL injury; knee laxity; clinical outcome; KOOS; long-term follow-up; postoperative knee brace; sagittal knee laxity; SF-36.;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of the present thesis was to assess patient-relevant outcome after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and to improve the knowledge of which factors that may predict longterm outcome after bone-patellar tendon-bone ACL reconstruction. Study I: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of a brace after ACL reconstruction with bone-patellar tendon-bone graft on knee stability and knee function two years after surgery. 4. 4. Anterior cruciate ligament injury : factors affecting selection of treatment and intermediate outcome

    Författare :Linda R Swirtun; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ACL-reconstruction; functional brace; indications for surgery; non-operative treatment; personality; subsequent injuries;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The aim of this comprehensive study was to evaluate whether anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injured patients choosing non-operative treatment differ from those choosing ACL reconstruction regarding age, gender, personality, activity level prior to injury, anterior-posterior knee joint laxity and outcome as evaluated using the Knee Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) five weeks following the ACL injury. Furthermore the reasons for choosing reconstruction were studied to determine whether patients who choose reconstructive surgery early do so for the same reasons as patients who choose reconstruction later. 5. 5. Rehabilitation following bone-patellar tendon-bone graft ACL reconstruction

    Författare :Christina Mikkelsen; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :ACL injury; ACL reconstruction; ACL rehabilitation; Anterior knee laxity; Closed kinetic chain; Extension deficit; Functional outcome score; Gender; Hyperextension brace; Isokinetic open kinetic chain; KOOS; KT-1000 arthrometer; Patello femoral pain; Personality characteristics; Physical activity; Quadriceps torque; Range of motion;

    Sammanfattning : The overall purpose of this Thesis was to improve treatment and rehabilitation after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with bone-patellar tendon-bone graft. Study I: The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare closed kinetic chain (CKC) training and a combination of closed and open kinetic chain (OKC) quadriceps exercises following ACL reconstruction on anterior knee laxity and isokinetic muscle torque.
