  1. 16. Source localisation of epileptiform activity in epilepsy of temporal lobe origin

    Författare :Göran Lantz; Klinisk neurofysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; frequency analysis; ictal; singe photon emission computed tomography; volume conduction; extracranial; intracranial; LORETA; dipole; source localisation; epilepsy; mesolimbic; Fast Fourier Transform; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In patients with drug resistant partial epilepsy, who are under consideration for epilepsy surgery, interictal and ictal EEG recorded with extracranial electrodes plays an important role in the localisation of the seizure onset area. During the past years, methods have been developed, which can be used to estimate the location of the source of epileptiform activity in the brain from extracranial EEG data. LÄS MER

  2. 17. New Biomarkers for Neuromuscular Function and Myasthenia Gravis

    Författare :Carl Johan Molin; Anna Rostedt Punga; Johan Widenfalk; Nils Hailer; Jan Verschuuren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biomarkers; myasthenia gravis; neuromuscular function; neurophysiology;

    Sammanfattning : Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disorder, which is caused by autoantibodies against the acetylcholine receptor (AChR). The cardinal symptom is muscle fatigue, which can range from slight weakness of the extraocular muscles (causing droopy eyelids or double vision), to paralysis of the respiratory muscles. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Specific language impairment: Neurophysiological studies of children and their parents

    Författare :Marianne Ors; Klinisk neurofysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; SPECT; neuropsykologi; neurofysiologi; N400; P300; P3; N1; ERPs; event-related brain potentials; children; developmental language delay; Specific language impairment; language disorder; Neurology; neuropsychology; neurophysiology; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : Specific language impairment (SLI) is commonly described as a condition where a child with otherwise normal development and hearing does not acquire language as expected. Children with SLI often have a family history of language disorders. The aetiology is poorly understood. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Dynamic Changes in the Peripheral and the Central Nervous Systems in Patients with Prior Polio

    Författare :Arne Sandberg; Erik Stålberg; Jože Trontelj; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurosciences; polio; prior polio; weakness; Macro EMG; EMG; post polio syndrome; Neurovetenskap; Neurology; Neurologi;

    Sammanfattning : After the acute spell of poliomyelitis, patients commonly suffers from sequelae of weakness. Some of these patients experience new weakness after a time period of stable symptoms.The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the possible mechanisms for persistent weakness and development of new weakness in prior polio patients. 5. 20. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor in cerebral ischemia: a quantitative study on surviving and newly formed neurons

    Författare :Elin Gustafsson; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; brain-derived neurotrophic factor; cerebral ischemia; neuronal survival; neurogenesis; hippocampus; striatum; immunocytochemistry; stereology; neuropsykologi; Neurologi; neurophysiology; neuropsychology; neurofysiologi; Neurology;

    Sammanfattning : This study explores the role of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) for neuronal vulnerability and neurogenesis following cerebral ischemia in the rat. Cerebral ischemia results in selective neuronal cell loss in specific brain regions. We here demonstrate the rank order of vulnerability in two regions affected by global forebrain ischemia, i.
