  1. 16. Cardiopulmonary Function in Healthy Individuals and in Patients After Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

    Författare :Margareta Genberg; Andrei Malinovschi; Eva Nylander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hematopoietic stem cell transplantation; echocardiography; cardiopulmonary execise testing; stress testing; onchology; childhood leukemia; healthy adults; breathing reserve; oxygen uptake; Clinical Physiology; Klinisk fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) is the gold standard of clinical exercise tests, combining conventional stress testing with measurement of oxygen uptake and carbon dioxide production. In order to interpret CPET findings, adequate reference values are needed. Currently, no Swedish reference values exist. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Autonomic reactivity in muscle pain : clinical and experimental assessment

    Författare :Nebojsa Kalezic; Eugene Lyskov; Stein Knardahl; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; autonomic reactivity; stress; chronic pain; experimental pain; back; shoulder; neck; Physiology; Fysiologi; Physiology;

    Sammanfattning : There are numerous indications of possible involvement of the autonomic nervous system in the genesis of chronic pain. The possibility exists that sympathetic activation is related to motor dysfunction and changes in sensory processing, which have otherwise been implicated in musculoskeletal disorders. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Physiology of Adventure Racing : with emphasis on circulatory response and cardiac fatigue

    Författare :C. Mikael Mattsson; Björn Ekblom; Keith P George; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiovascular drift; cardiac fatigue; adventure race; cardiac biomarkers; cardoac function; exercise echocardiography; Physiology; Fysiologi; Cardiology; Kardiologi; Sports; Idrott; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aims of this thesis were to elucidate the circulatory responses to ultra-endurance exercise (Adventure Racing), and furthermore, to contribute to the clarification of the so called “exercise-induced cardiac fatigue” in relation to said exercise. An Adventure race (AR) varies in duration from six hours to over six days, in which the participants have to navigate through a number of check-points over a pre-set course, using a combination of three or more endurance/outdoor sports, e. 4. 19. Glomerular filtration rate in adults : a single sample plasma clearance method based on the mean sojurn time

    Författare :Margareta Gref; Kjell Karp; Börje Ljungberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Clinical Physiology; klinisk fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is a key parameter in evaluating kidney function. After a bolus injection of an exogenous GFR marker in plasma an accurate determination of GFR can be made by measuring the marker concentration in plasma during the excretion. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Autonomic cardiac control in long QT syndrome : clinical studies of arrhythmogenic triggers

    Författare :Anna Lundström; Annika Rydberg; Urban Wiklund; Håkan Eliasson; Jacob Tfelt-Hansen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Long QT syndrome; pediatrics; exercise; Holter; water immersion; arrhythmia; clinical physiology; ECG; heart rate variability; heart rate response; cardiovascular disease; hjärt- och kärlforskning; kardiologi; Cardiology; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Long QT syndrome (LQTS) is an inherited cardiac disease characterized by prolonged cardiac repolarization and an increased risk for life-threatening arrhythmias. These arrhythmias are typically triggered by adrenergic stimuli, such as physical activity and intense emotions, implicating that the sympathetic part of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) is involved in arrhythmogenesis.
