  1. 16. Heterogeneous Technologies for Microfluidic Systems

    Författare :Gunjana Sharma; Klas Hjort; Sami Franssila; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :actuator; biosensor; fluidic circuit board; heterogeneous technology; ion track; microfluidic; pump; stainless steel; super-hydrophobic; valve; Viton; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, conventional and unconventional technologies have been studied and combined in order to make heterogeneous microfluidics with potential advantages, especially in biological applications. Many conventional materials, like silicon, glass, thermoplastic polymers, polyimide and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) have been combined in building heterogeneous microfluidic devices or demonstrators. 3. 18. Miniaturized fluid system for high-pressure analytics

    Författare :Simon Södergren; Klas Hjort; Sami Franssila; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High-pressure; Microfluidics; Thermal regulation; Fluid mechanics; In-situ sensors; High-pressure analytics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Sammanfattning : High-pressure chemistry can be used to determine the contents of blood or water samples and to discover new chemistries. However, working with chemistry at pressures of many tens, or even hundreds, of bars often requires expensive and stationary equipment, such as autoclaves or chromatographic systems like high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). 4. 19. Liquid metal microscale deposition for soft and stretchable skin-like electronics : Providing a soft and gentle contact to living beings

    Författare :Bei Wang; Klas Hjort; Zhigang Wu; Magnus Berggren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; laser patterning; sacrificial mask; liquid metal; strain sensor; skin movement; masking; shrink film; 3D conformal masking; liquid metal particles; soft electronics; stretchable electronics; compliant electronics; skin-like electronics; epidermal electronics; micro-heater; particle sintering; enteroendocrine cells; localized ectopic expression; wettability; flexography printing; conformal transfer printing; hydro printing; plant physiology; drosophila;

    Sammanfattning : Skin-like electronics could provide a soft and gentle contact with living beings for perceiving and delivering the information of pressure, strain, temperature with higher spatial resolution and sensitivity than our skin, without disturbing the user. Gallium-based liquid metal (LM) is an excellent material for soft and stretchable skin-like devices, since it has high electrical and thermal conductivity, flowability, and self-healable capability.
