1. Potential Therapeutic Applications of Novel Bioengineered Tissues and Organs Using Methods of Decellularization and Recellularization
Sammanfattning : The transplantation of personalized organs or tissues will benefit patients with various diseases and disorders. Decellularization is a method to generate an acellular, non-immunogenic natural scaffold. LÄS MER
2. α1-microglobulin – Therapeutic opportunities in kidney and erythrocyte pathology
Sammanfattning : Oxidative stress is defined as an imbalance between oxidants and antioxidants. The reasons behind the condition are diverse, and can result in, or contribute to, the severity of many diseases. The body has different protective mechanisms to reduce the oxidative burden, among them a protein called α1-microglobulin (A1M). LÄS MER

4. Studies of EHEC and the complement system in renal diseases
Sammanfattning : This thesis addressed the diagnosis, pathogenesis and clinical course of specific renal diseases hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) and dense deposit disease (DDD). HUS may be associated with infection caused by Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) or with complement dysfunction due to complement mutations or auto-antibodies (atypical HUS, aHUS). LÄS MER
5. The role of fibroblast growth factor-23 in chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorder
Sammanfattning : Fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23) was initially identified as the causative factor of autosomal dominant hypophosphatemic rickets. Further studies confirmed that FGF23 is predominantly expressed in the osteocytes and osteoblasts of bone and that circulating FGF23 acts on the kidney to inhibit renal phosphate reabsorption and 1,25(OH)2D3 hydroxylation.
