1. Water quality modeling based on landscape analysis: importance of riparian hydrology
Sammanfattning : Several studies in high-latitude catchments have demonstrated the importance of near-stream riparian zones as hydrogeochemical hotspots with a substantial influence on stream chemistry. An adequate representation of the spatial variability of riparian-zone processes and characteristics is the key for modeling spatio-temporal variations of stream-water quality. LÄS MER
2. Internal Tar/CH4 Reforming in Biomass Dual Fluidised Bed Gasifiers towards Fuel Synthesis
Sammanfattning : Production of high-quality syngas from biomass gasification in a dual fluidised bed gasifier (DFBG) has made a significant progress in R&D and Technology demonstration. An S&M scale bio-automotive fuel plant close to the feedstock resources is preferable as biomass feedstock is widely sparse and has relatively low density, low heating value and high moisture content. 3. Potential Electrocatalysts for Water Splitting Devices : A Journey Through the Opportunities and Challenges of Catalyst Classes
Sammanfattning : In this thesis work, different classes of catalysts and their suitability for integration into an electrolyzer cell has been investigated.Ruthenium based molecular catalysts have shown high activities and stabilities towards water oxidation in neutral pH. Especially the oligomeric catalysts exhibited a superior performance. LÄS MER
4. Carbon in Boreal Streams : Isotopic Tracing of Terrestrial Sources
Sammanfattning : The boreal biome comprises vast areas of coniferous forests, dotted with millions of peatlands. Plants harbouring these ecosystems fix CO2 from the atmosphere, which is later incorporated into the vegetation biomass and subsequently buried in soils. LÄS MER
5. Genetic analysis of genes found on the 4th chromosome of Drosophila - emphasizing the developmental context of Pax6
Sammanfattning : The small size and the lack of recombination set the fourth chromosome of Drosophila melanogaster apart from the other chromosomes. I have shown that the Minute gene on chromosome 4, earlier named Minute-4, encodes the ribosomal protein RpS3A. Two Pax6 genes, eyeless (ey) and twin of eyeless (toy) are also located on chromosome 4. LÄS MER
