  1. 11. Characterising Weak Interactions in Solution. : An NMR Spectroscopic Approach

    Författare :Scott Wilcox; Máté Erdélyi; Chris Hunter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Detecting and characterising weak interactions in dilute solutions is challenging. This thesis focusses on the development of a new NMR spectroscopic strategy to do so, whilst also investigates a newly proposed type of weak interaction in solution with currently available NMR techniques. 2. 12. Regenerable Organochalcogen Antioxidants : An Explorative Study

    Författare :Jiajie Yan; Lars Engman; David J. Procter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; autoxidation; antioxidant; selenium; tellurium; regenerable; multifunctional; radical-trapping; hydroperoxide-decomposing; co-antioxidant; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Antioxidants are widely used to protect organic materials from damages caused by autoxidation, an oxidation process that occurs under normal aerobic conditions. In this thesis, novel multifunctional organoselenium and organotellurium antioxidants were designed, synthesized, and evaluated in search for compounds with better radical-trapping capacity, regenerability, and hydroperoxide-decomposing ability. 3. 13. Exploring Novel Catalytic Chalcogenide Antioxidants

    Författare :Henrik Johansson; Lars Engman; Helena Grennberg; Troels Skrydstrup; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; antioxidant; tellurium; selenium; catalytic; toxicity; ROS; neutrophil; glutathione peroxidase mimic; macrophage.; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with the synthesis and evaluation of regenerable chalcogen containing antioxidants. Variously substituted 2,3-dihydrobenzo[b]selenophene-5-ol antioxidants were evaluated in order to gain information about structure/reactivity-relationships. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Peptide Conjugates as Useful Molecular Tools

    Författare :Adam T. Ślósarczyk; Lars Baltzer; Knud J. Jensen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; peptide conjugates; designed peptides; polypeptides; molecular recognition; linker; linking technology; bioconjugation; conjugation; conjugates; Kemi; Chemistry; Chemistry with specialization in Bioorganic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot bioorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The conjugation of a small organic molecule to synthetic polypeptides from a designed set has been shown to give rise to binders with high affinity and selectivity for the phosphorylated model proteins α-casein and β-casein but not for ovoalbumin. The small organic molecule that was used for this purpose is comprised of two di-(2-picolyl)amine groups assembled on a dimethylphenyl scaffold, and is capable of complexing two Zn2+ ions to form chelates that bind the phosphate ion.
