  1. 1. Protein Expression Profiling of Cancer Biomarkers

    Författare :Kristina Magnusson; Fredrik Pontén; Karin Jirström; Anna Dimberg; Tibor Tot; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Antibody-based proteomics; Biomarker; SATB2; Colorectal cancer; ANLN; Breast cancer; CD93; Angiogenesis; Pathology; Patologi;

    Sammanfattning : The Human Protein Atlas project is a Swedish research initiative that uses antibody-based proteomics for large scale protein profiling in human tissues and cells. Affinity-purified antibodies are produced within the project and used for immunohistochemical staining on tissue micro arrays (TMAs) in order to map the human proteome and publish the result in a protein atlas (www. 2. 2. Interventions for urinary incontinence in women : survey and effects on population and patient level

    Författare :Karin Franzén; Kerstin Nilsson; Jan-Erik Johansson; Ian Milsom; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Urinary incontinence; female; general living conditions; self-management; electrical stimulation; quality of life questionnaire; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Surgery; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Urinary Incontinence is a common health problem that can cause both severe medical and social problems, resulting in negative impact on different aspects of Quality of Life. In 2000, the Swedish Council on Health Technology Assessment (SBU) published a systematic review, “Treatment of Urinary Incontinence” where multiple knowledge gaps in the field of UI, all of considerable clinical importance, were pointed out. 3. 3. In vitro studies of the diabetic condition using cultured fibroblasts with focus on wound healing

    Författare :Karin M Hehenberger; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :diabetes; fibroblasts; wound healing; proliferation; protein kinaseC; lactate; growth factors; resistance.;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the diabetic condition at the cellular level, and how this may lead to late complications. Defect wound healing in diabetic patients is poorly understood, but impaired granulation is observed clinically. We have therefore decided to study an in vitro system using cultured fibroblasts. 4. 4. Bird-parasite interactions : Using Sindbis virus as a model system

    Författare :Karin M. Lindström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Developmental biology; Carduelis chloris; Sindbis virus; host-parasite interaction; ornament; social dominance; testosterone; sexual selection; Utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental biology; Utvecklingsbiologi; populationsbiologi; Population Biology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the evolutionary interactions between birds and a parasite, the mosquito-borne Sindbis virus (Togaviridae, Alphavirus). In conclusion, the results show that the Sindbis virus is widespread among birds, and that the fitness of infected hosts may be reduced by the virus. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Wood-fibre composites : Stress transfer and hygroexpansion

    Författare :Karin M. Almgren; Kristofer Gamstedt; Véronique Michaud; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Wood fibres is a type of natural fibres suitable for composite applications. The abundance of wood in Swedish forests makes wood-fibre composites a new and interesting application for the Swedish pulp and paper industry. LÄS MER
