  1. 6. Autologous full-thickness skin graft as reinforcement material in the repair of complex hernias

    Författare :Viktor Holmdahl; Karin Strigård; Ulf Gunnarsson; Lars Nannestad Jørgensen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Full-thickness skin graft; Incisional hernia; Parastomal hernia; tensile strength; RCT; abdominal wall strength; quality-of-life; IPOM; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Abdominal wall hernia is a common issue in the realm of surgery. Many patients suffering from a hernia require surgical intervention, and over 8000 abdominal hernia repairs are performed each year in Sweden. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Flight Control Design Using Backstepping

    Författare :Ola Härkegård; Torkel Glad; Karin Ståhl Gunnarsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Aircraft flight control design is traditionally based on linear control theory, due to the existing wealth of tools for linear design and analysis. However, in order to achieve tactical advantages, modern fighter aircraft strive towards performing maneuvers outside the region where the dynamics of flight are linear, and the need for nonlinear tools arises. 3. 8. Fate and transport of POPs in the aquatic environment : with focus on contaminated sediments

    Författare :Sarah Josefsson; Karin Wiberg; Mats Tysklind; Kjell Leonardsson; Jonas S Gunnarsson; Jussi Kukkonen; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bioturbation; bioirrigation; bioaccumulation; secondary sources; buried contaminants; sediment remediation; active capping; thin-layer capping; Marenzelleria spp.; Baltic Sea; polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins; polychlorinated dibenzofurans; polychlorinated biphenyls; hexachlorobenzene; octachloro¬styrene; polybrominated diphenyl ethers; PCDD Fs; PCBs; HCB; OCS; PBDEs; water sampling; passive sampling; particulate fraction; freely dissolved; apparently dissolved; colloid; organic carbon; activated carbon; lignin; sediment-to-water flux; spring bloom; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Persistent organic compounds; Persistenta organiska föreningar; Environmental Science; miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) are hydrophobic substances that readily sorb to organic matter in particles and colloids instead of being freely dissolved in the water phase. This sorption affects the bioavailability and environmental transport of the POPs. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Minimising risk and optimising technique in ventral hernia repair

    Författare :Mikael Lindmark; Ulf Gunnarsson; Karin Strigård; Frederik Helgstrand; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hernia; complications; ventral hernia repair; laparoscopy; RCT; incisional hernia; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Abdominal wall hernia is a common pathology and adverse events related to hernia repair is thus a topic of considerable importance. Hernia is a disease that affect both sexes and people of all ages.The thesis is based upon four papers. Study I, II and III are analysing complications related to ventral hernia repair. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Parastomal hernia : investigation and treatment

    Författare :Pia Näsvall; Karin Strigård; Jörgen Rutegård; Ulf Gunnarsson; Michael Dahlberg; Ingvar Syk; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Parastomal; hernia; 3D US; ultrasonography; mesh; QoL; rectal cancer; stoma; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Sammanfattning : BackgroundParastomal hernia is a common stoma complication causing the patient considerable inconvenience. The patient becomes aware of a bulge around the stoma, but a bulge is not always a parastomal hernia and diagnostics must be performed to enable differential treatment. It is difficult to distinguish between a bulge and a hernia. LÄS MER
