4. Towards better understanding of small joint arthroplasty in the hand. Silicone implants, osseointegrated implants and functional outcome
Sammanfattning : Today the most widely used implants for small joint arthroplasty in the hand are flexible silicone implants, introduced by Swanson in the 1960 s. They are encapsulated by connective tissue, which allows pistoning movements in the bone marrow canal This type of implant, mostly used in rheumatic patients, gives high patient satisfaction, relief of pain, correction of deformity and a changed arc of motion towards a more functional position. 5. Associations between body functions, activities and health-related quality of life from onset until 18 months after stroke
Sammanfattning : Introduction and aims: In planning rehabilitation services for patients with stroke, it is important to know the frequency of the impairments and activity limitations presented by the patients and also how each body function and activity is associated with other body functions and activities, as well as the patients health-related quality of life (HRQL) at different time-points after stroke. The overall aims of the thesis were to describe body functions, activities and HRQL in patients with stroke and to analyse the associations between those variables, in the first week and at three and 18 months after stroke onset.
